THANK YOU! The Board Members, bookstore staff and volunteers of the Friends of the Camarillo Library offer their sincere thanks to those who contributed to this year’s #GivingTuesday campaign, as well as those who became Friends Members. We are so very grateful for your support. Whether or not you supported the Camarillo Library during #GivingTuesday this year, we hope we provided enlightenment and deepened your interest in the resources of the Camarillo Library. We care for our members and bookstore customers, for the Camarillo Library, and for our community. We hope to see you at the Friends Bookstore once it reopens. #ThankYou #GivingTuesday #FriendsOfCamarilloLibrary #NonProft

It’s officially #GivingTuesday2020, a globally recognized day of generosity. Its message of hope, connection, and community have never been more needed than this year. Today, the Friends of the Camarillo Library is working on behalf of the Camarillo Library in a concentrated effort to raise funds for the library. Let’s create some goodwill today and show the Camarillo Library just how much we appreciate it. Please donate to the Friends of the Camarillo Library today in f...ull support of the Camarillo Library. A show of generosity will mean so much to the community. To donate, please visit the Friends website (https://www.friendscamarillolibrary.org/support-us), then scroll down to reach the donate button (midway down the right-hand side of the page). It is easy to see from past Facebook posts that the Camarillo Library is the heart of our community. It’s a welcoming environment, community hub and center for learning that connects people to information and people to people. The Camarillo Library holds lecture series, seminars, and cultural events while providing literacy programs and creative workshops. There are digital resources for those who read on mobile devices. For the traditionalist, physical books are always avail...able. At the Camarillo Library, there is something for everyone. Although Friends is not part of the Camarillo Library, it's part of our mission to raise funds on its behalf. EXPLORE THE DIGITAL WORLD. The digital realm is one in which no shelf is required. If you prefer something other than the traditional hardcopy of a book (i.e. e-books or audiobooks), try Camarillo Library’s digital resources: Hoopla, OverDrive and Libby. They are available to library patrons free of charge only a Camarillo Library card is required. Hoopla: Hoopla is a digital media lending service. Through Hoopla, the Camarillo Library offers patrons a large selection... of digital video (movies and TV shows) as well as audiobooks and e-books. The library’s catalog of books ranges from classics to best sellers. The movies and TV shows are free from commercials and ads. Hoopla is available on desktop computers, laptops, and mobile devices. OverDrive: OverDrive is also a digital media lending service. Its major difference from Hoopla is that OverDrive also offers streaming video. OverDrive is available on desktops, laptops, and mobile devices. Libby: Libby is OverDrive’s follow-on app. It has the same collection of e-books and audiobooks as OverDrive, but is designed to be smoother and easier to use, whether on an e-reader or smartphone. For additional information, contact the Camarillo Library or visit their website (camarillolibrary.org). Note: Friends is not part of the Camarillo Library, but part of our mission is to raise funds on its behalf. AN ASSORTMENT OF OFFERINGS. The library has so much to offer the community! Here are just a few examples: Business: The Russell Fischer Business Collection at the Camarillo Library is the repository of the largest collection of business books in Ventura County. This collection of business resources includes business-related books, electronic and audio books, and market research tools. Online business research tools, workshops, seminars, and presentations are also offered. ... Seeds: The Seed Lending Library provides the opportunity to start growing open-pollinated and heirloom seeds, as well as a way to share seeds harvested from those plants. Genealogy: The extensive collection of the Ventura County Genealogical Society is housed at the Camarillo Library. Volunteers can help you navigate the collection, answer genealogy questions, or get you started with genealogy. Workshops and lectures are offered periodically. Comic-Con: Held at the Camarillo Library in 2019, Camarillo Comic-Con is an excellent example of a Camarillo Library event that brought all ages of the community together. Participants celebrated comic books and pop culture by participating in crafts, activities, games, and creator panels. Daniel Handler, otherwise known as Lemony Snicket, creator of the popular book series A Series of Unfortunate Events, was the featured guest. Remember, Friends is not part of the Camarillo Library, but part of our mission is to raise funds on its behalf. YOUNG ADULTS: EDUCATE, CAPTIVATE, CONNECT. The Young Adults Area at the Camarillo Library, which was recently renovated, is a tech-friendly study space with built-in mobile device chargers, desktop computers, and large screens for videos and gaming. Included in this area is, of course, a great selection of young adult books. The library has many activities, programs and events geared towards teens. Young adults can join the teen book club, teen writers’ club, or teen advisor...y board. A craft club encourages creativity; some past projects included DIY tote bags and lava lamps. There are teen movie nights, a coding club, and 3D printing workshops. Only some of these are regularly scheduled activities. These programs and events keep the teen mind and soul occupied in educational, creative and engaging ways. Free to the public, look for events and programs to resume when the library reopens. Please note: Although Friends is not part of the Camarillo Library, part of our mission is to raise funds on its behalf.
