Calaveras softball league is not going to have a season the spring of 2021. We do not have permission to use the fields and have no conformation when the schools will be back at 100% attendance. We are in hopes for the next spring 2022 season to be able to play. We also have a new website avaliable it is called calaverassoftball.com We will be adding updates on there as well as Facebook. May 27, 2020 To the CSL Community, We hope you and your families are safe and healthy as these significant times have continued. As we are all aware, COVID 19 has brought hardships on many, in various forms and it has also restricted our level of recreation. That being said, it is with great disappointment and sadness the CSL board has to formally cancel the remainder of the 2020 softball season. We would love nothing more than to be on the field teaching, mentoring and providing a fun space for our athletes but not at the expense of their or their families’ health. We acknowledge this will be frustrating for our players and families and we hope that they understand this is a decision that is ultimately out of our hands. We also want to be as transparent as possible in offering the following information. We are a small, non-profit organization, run by volunteers and our expenses are covered by generous community donors and your fees. These expenses, such as uniforms, field dues & maintenance, toilet rentals, insurance, equipment and umpire costs, are barely covered by the amount we raise each year. The board has already paid for much of the 2020 season’s cost including insurance premiums, new equipment & balls, uniforms, partial toilet rental, and field dues leaving little in the coffers. We were also unable to complete the Port’s Fundraiser which might have helped to offset these costs. The program is unable to withstand a refund to every player, it would leave it decimated and unable to recover. At the start of every season we have to start with some funds in the bank due to the onset cost of insurance if the board doesn’t pay insurance, there is no option to have a season. The best we can offer to those who might be returning next year is to offer a standard fee early bird fee of $80, regardless of when they sign up. We completely understand this is, by far, the last thing you want to hear and we completely sympathize with you. We hear your voices and wish there was more we could do - especially during these unparalleled times. However, we feel being open and honest as possible is the best policy for continued support and longevity. To all Calaveras Softball League Players and families, As we are all aware the COVID-19 virus has been affecting many over the last couple of days. As the situation has progressed we have been monitoring and discussing how our season will proceed. At this time, we have made the very difficult decision to POSTPONE all practices and games through spring break. There were many outside factors out of our control that played a role in this decision and it is one the CSL board does... not take lightly. Our main priority is the health and safety of our players. As circumstances change we will be sure to keep you apprised of the situation with any important information as we hope to resume play in the near future. We understand the frustration this causes and want to thank you all for your patience during this time. Parents please not our league is not stoping as of now we are a go for pictures tomorrow unless it is pouring out. If it is sprinkling out we will still have pictures.
