Big thanks to Professor G.P. Li, and to the whole Calit2 staff for helping to make our 16th CalPlug Workshop (our second online) a roaring success! Our external speakers were all amazing, and I really enjoyed participating in the panel discussion at the end. Kudos to the entire team! Presentation slides will be posted on the website soon!

UC making a difference! The persistent environmental damage wrought by plastics on the environment and human health is well-known, said David Phillips, associate vice president for UC’s Department of Energy and Sustainability. With changes in the recycling industry that make it more difficult to reuse plastic products, the clear solution is to phase out single-use plastics so they never enter our waste stream in the first place. https://www.universityofcalifornia.edu//uc-moves-scrap-sin

Happy Earth Day from CalPlug! We just finished off an amazing series of talks at our first virtual CalPlug Workshop. The speakers were both sobering and inspiring, including Calit2 Director Dr. GP Li, UCI's own sustainability hero Wendell Brase, several experts on energy and climate change, and our newest partners from LADWP. It was especially fascinating to hear from Michael Mitchell, one of the organizers of the first Earth Day 50 years ago! The webinar was recorded, and we'll post the link when it's available.
