Big project underway. Building 2 each 8x20’ & 8 each 10x20’ tiny houses on the ground. Yes on the ground, as we are waiting for trailers. These will be lifted and set on trailers when they arrive. It’s a first for us.

...and we’re back! So many projects and new stuff to share coming up this month; let’s start with this 8.5x16 cargo-trailer-incognito house. Has fresh/waste water tanks and is prepped for solar. In the bathroom there’s a compost toilet, and a full shower. the kitchen has a deep stainless sink, induction cooktop and convection baking microwave. Once the convertible sofa/bed goes in this is going to be a great little house on the DL. #incognito #tinyhouse #cargohome #impostor

working on this 10x24 house, still in design phase.

California Tiny House 20.10.2020

Still in the design phase of this 10x24 tiny, but it’s a lot of fun so far. It features cross pitch roofline, step-form ext wall, strong linear patterns and dual-decks. To maximize seating/living area, the kitchen and bathroom interlock towards the front of the trailer, with massive windows throughout. It’s really designed to use the ‘back’ deck as an extension of the living area, with almost uninterrupted views between the deck and the house. Everyone who follows us or gets... a California Tiny House knows that we like easy access to lofts. If it’s a full-time-living unit, comfy stairs or downstairs bedrooms are important. The stairs here are intentionally tucked through the kitchen and rather than some kind of tall-narrow hallway, are wide and open for an armful of bedding or just room to wave your arms around. An outdoor shower, patterned materials and some other cool stuff are coming together. Will be sure to update when the design gets closer, and certainly when we start this awesome build! #legalizetiny #archviz #tinyhousedesigns #santacruz See more

Movable Tiny Homes Approved! Yesterday, the Humboldt County Board of Supervisors approved an ordinance to permit movable tiny homes as ADUs. The vote was 4-1. Humboldt County becomes the second county in California, and the state’s first rural county, to permit movable tiny homes as habitable ADUs. Thanks to Daniel R. Fitzpatrick President Tiny Home Industry Association (THIA) for getting this done. ... For updates follow us on our Instagram account California Tiny House, Inc. #legalizetiny See more

Not sure if you all got a chance to see the tiny IHoP we designed/built last year, but if you haven’t, it was a freakin’ blast! At 160sf with a fully functional commercial kitchen, ordering bar, dining booth (that expands to seat 6) and custom ihop lighted signage it was so much fun. We worked with A&E/ihop/barkbark who did a little commercial mini-series and promo contest to dine in the itty restaurant. We didn’t get to take interior photos once they got all of the IHoP decorations up, but have some renderings of some different interior design concepts we came up with. Thought it’d be fun to share and find out what kind of other retail/restaurants/etc you’d like to see made into tiny houses? #tinyrestaurant #tinyhousedesigns #archviz #pancake @ California

Tiny. We get comments often saying: that’s not a ‘tiny’ house, its too big. They shan’t be saying that this time! This 16x10 has no bump-outs or overhangs and has a removable tongue. This house has a mighty small footprint and a lot going on inside: -Room for @joybird pink sleeper(!) sofa in the living area -Big chill turquoise apartment size retro fridge -induction cooktop(2b)... -Tile steam shower (steeaaam!) -Convection baking microwave -Small closet -24 apron front sink -Comfort stair-ladder - flushing toilet & lav sink -built-in table/bar -A mail-slot! The exterior is a specialty flexible stucco, paint grade mahogany round-top entry door, and gets a clay tile roof from a local San Diego roofer once it’s at into place, so no photos with roof for a bit. I know I’m rambling, but we really like this little house. Lol. The A/C mini split and water heater are built into a bump-in under the roof, and the steam generator for the steam shower is built into a narrow section inside the blind-base corner of the kitchen. Ridge beams, open beams to top windows (kitchen) etc, etc. Anyways, hand cramping up, there’s so much fun stuff we are making a version of the house into a model (info available next week). Happy weekend everyone!! #tinytiny #spanishstyle #clayroof #openbeams #steamshower @ California See more

Quick post: Here are some pics of the 16’ house that just left the shop this morning. Teaser photos, really. Expect to post the full photos of interior/exterior tonight or tomorrow as soon as I sort through all the photos. Our overly excited, trigger-happy-photographer (me) couldn’t stop taking photos of this beloved new, compact model. Lotta stuff going on in a small package. From the woodwork to the steam shower steam shower ( looking up @ tiled ceiling), and the hints of the round top front entry door we love this one. Take in all the little details now so they don’t get lost in the what’s up next. Happy Friday everyone! #tinydetails #tinyhousedesigns #steamshower #lookup @ California

We are almost finished with this customized Studio20 with the extended 4ft option. California Studio is one of our 3 new model lines that features an open design concept, with, well, ginormous windows. With so much window square-footage, positioning your tiny home based on destination climate can make a big difference in daytime light-movement and thermal transmission. Though all of our tiny homes are extraordinarily efficient, climate control options and effective placement optimize comfort and minimize energy consumption. When this one is all done, we‘ll definitely be sharing more photos! #tinyhousedesign #bigwindows #moderntinyliving #studio20 #openconcept @ California

This is a pretty fun custom design we did for a great client. It’s a 10x26-28 with an under-loft living space. It’s a visually dynamic design, with some really neat built-in storage. Besides the storage-staircase and open-design landing (more sight lines to windows expanding the space) there was also a hidden storage compartment behind the sliding TV. Hook-ups, power and other connection cables move with the door (so you accidentally don’t unplug your PlayStation every time you need to get in there)! There’s a second ladder access loft and a lot of other fun stuff. Ultimately, we changed the design to a larger floor plan with an alternate layout for some specific uses, but thought we’d share this anyway. #archviz #tinyhousedesigns #tinyhouselife #tinyhouse @ California

Check out this cargo trailer conversion! 16’ cargo trailer with fresh/waste water tanks. Much of this build is new territory for us a California Tiny House, but our guiding principles of quality and ergonomics are still upheld. A rooftop temperature control unit, full bathroom, small kitchen and flexible power options (with solar hookup) are among the features of this incognito tiny. The back of the trailer will have a convertible sofa/queen and lots of storage/SF. A lot more... info and photos to come as we continue this cool little build. Stay safe out there and #tinyon! . . . . #tinyhouseconversion #cargotiny @ California See more

Reminding everyone that we are still planning on doing a series of LIVE Q&A and a mix of Videos and tour videos this Saturday July 11th. The schedule is not yet finalized but we should be running from 10am-2pm right here on IG LiveStream and later posted on our YouTube channel. With lots of info, shop project tours and information on upcoming models, it should be a fun time (first try so expect some chaos!) . Drawings are of an earlier version of the design we did for a new ...custom 24’ + 6’ gooseneck tiny. Although this was designed as a C-shell-60 (custom-60% build, customer to complete) it’s important that we consider the final interior layout possibilities for a smooth build once the customer takes over. This design has two open lofts. The master loft has stairs planned and utilizes the gooseneck portion for an open office and closet-space. The secondary loft is ladder accessed as storage or sleeping. Combining the gable and shed roof styles allow for a lot extra space in the master, that still meets build regulations for ADU use in California. I’ll post some of the revision photos soon so y’all can see where it went from here... #californiatinyhouse #tinytour #archviz #tinyhousedesigns See more
