In honor of the first day of #BlackHistoryMonth and the first full day of Secretary Weber's administration, today we celebrate Secretary Weber who has made history as CA's first Black Secretary of State and only the 5th CA Constitutional Officer in the state's 170-year history.

Secretary of State Alex Padilla’s office is live streaming a randomized alphabet drawing to determine the order in which candidates’ names will appear on the March 2, 2021 State Senate District 30 Special Primary Election ballot.

Today, Governor Newsom swore in Dr. Shirley Weber as California’s Secretary of State! She is making history as California’s first Black Secretary of State and only the fifth African American to serve as a state constitutional officer in California’s 170-year history.
