Tortured by his own mother and her boyfriend for several years, 8 year old Gabriel Fernandez’s little body couldn’t take it anymore and in 2013 he died of his injuries. Today Gabriel would’ve turned 16 years old. The prosecutor who put his killers behind bars (DDA Jonathan Hatami ) and Los Angeles County Sheriff Villanueva visited with Gabriel’s aunt, Mrs. Barron, to celebrate his short life. It pains us @lasdhq that Gabriel had to endure unspeakable pain in his 8 years on this earth. Please help us in law enforcement to be our eyes & ears so we can all continually grow stronger in our mission to protect our children from abuse at home, especially right now while the pandemic has forced children to stay home around the clock. With massive job losses caused by the pandemic nationwide and communities facing uncertainty, "We Are LASD Wives" (Los Angeles Sheriff Department) had the honor of partnering with the The Dream Center for a great cause! The Dream Center distributes over 3,000 free meals per day to our community members in need.

Congratulations to Baldwin Police Department Chief López who was appointed last night to serve as the City's new Chief of Police. Chief López comes with over 40 years of law enforcement experience with the Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD). He previously served as the Commanding Officer of the Force Investigation Division for the LAPD.

LAPD Central Division is conducting Roll Call in the field for the rest of the year. Each day roll call will occur at the location where an LAPD Central Division Officer was killed in the line of duty as a solemn reminder of what those men and women gave in the line of duty. Today they remembered Patrolman Patrick Downey, killed in the line of duty on February 18th, 1919.
