Howdy folks. Thanks to all of you who liked the page. As you know I'm a curandero (healer) from the Latino culture of central California. With the exception of my maternal grandmother none of us were born in Mexico. We are indigenous and are proud that this aspect of healing has not died. For those of you who live near me (Richmond CA, just north of Berkeley) I'm teaching a basic medicine making class Saturday on the18th of March. This is good for older kids too. More info will be on this page in a week or so. I hope to see you!

January 1st marks the 22nd anniversary of the California School of Traditional Hispanic Herbalism. Co-Instructor Lori Pino and I are looking forward to an exciting New Year with more hands-on classes, more in-depth lectures on traditional Spanish, Native Americans, Californios (the original Native and Spanish born citizens of the Provincio California, and the Mexican diaspora. Please check out our Facebook page The California School of Traditional Hispanic Herbalism, as well ...as our page www.hispanicherbs.com for the California School of Hispanic Herbalism in a couple of weeks. We will be having herbal cooking classes based on the healing foods of my late mother, Martha Navarro Garcia, as well as herb walks on sunny weekends. Plus the ever popular urban herb walks. The school will also be offer classes in urban survival herbalism, living off the grid in an urban situation, growing herbs in pots and barrels, preserving your herbal medicines, making jams, jellies, and pickling fresh produce and using salt and herbs to preserve meat without refrigeration. Each turn of the season we will have a Share the Skills Class on a Weekend where we invite you to participate in sharing your particular skill, from gardening to practical cooking on a tight budget. In the summer we hope to re-establish our High Sierra Primitive Skills and Herbfest which had unfortunately been burned out and then snowed out the last two years. We will be looking for volunteers to help set up and teach. So join us for classes, walks, and our herbfest in 2020! You won't regret it. See more
