Nearly 200,000 California women are living with breast cancer, so the odds are that you know someone has either dealt with this disease themselves or within their families. Let’s work together to reduce those numbers. Check line 405 on your state tax return!

We’re a group of scientists who want women to know that alcohol causes breast cancer. We'll give you accurate, real, and to the point information about the fact... that drinking is bad for your breasts. We wish it wasn’t the case, but it is: https://arg.org//campaign-launches-to-let-young-women-kno/ Follow us, like us, and help us spread the word so all women know that it’s best to drink less for your breasts. CBCRP is excited to announce an open funding opportunity for Investigating Industry Influence Over Scientific Information on Breast Cancer and the Environment: Exploring the UCSF Industry Documents Library. This funding opportunity examines past efforts by the tobacco, chemical, drug, food, and fossil fuel industries to suppress public awareness of the link between breast cancer and environmental exposures. This project will use the University of California San Francisco (UCS...F) Industry Documents Library (hosted by the UCSF Library), which is a digital archive of documents from these industries that exists to preserve open access to this information and to support research on the commercial determinants of public health. This project would explore whether there is research in the library into links between breast cancer and environmental exposures that was not previously published and whether there are documents describing actions to influence public opinion related to breast cancer and environmental exposures. CBCRP intends to fund one project with a maximum budget of $150,000 direct costs and duration of 1 year. Any individual or organization in California may submit an application. The research must be conducted primarily in California. Completed responses to this RFP are due by Wednesday, March 24, 2021, 12 pm PST. Why does immigrating from a country of low breast cancer incidence to the United States (and California) increase a women’s risk of breast cancer as well as the risk for her children and future generations? CBCRP has launched an initiative to answer this question: A Community-Partnered Approach to Understanding the Social and Systemic Factors Influencing Breast Cancer Risk in Immigrants We are sponsoring two funding opportunities for Phase 1 of this initiative: ... 1. A Request for Proposals (RFP) for community-partnered participatory research teams to conduct a one-year exploratory study and participate in a series of workshops to lay the groundwork for a more comprehensive Phase 2 study. CBCRP intends to fund up to five research teams in Phase 1. 2. A Request for Qualifications (RFQ) for a convener to facilitate the communication and forming of collaborations between Phase 1 research teams by organizing periodic meetings for the research teams and creating a framework for forming collaborations between teams and developing the scope of the RFP for Phase 2. Each project has a maximum budget of $100,000 direct costs and a duration of 1 year for research teams and 18 months for the convener. Applications are due by 12:00 pm PST on March 24, 2021. Please join us in this effort. If we understood and could intervene on the factors that make living in the U.S. increase breast cancer risk, we could lower the rate of breast cancer both for immigrants and for anyone else living here. Today, one in eight women face breast cancer. The first of its kind, Paths to Prevention: The California Breast Cancer Primary Prevention Plan, a project funded by CBCRP, offers a strategic and forward-thinking agenda to prevent breast cancer for all. This unique Plan combines extensive scientific research with invaluable community wisdom, public health with environmental justice, and offers tangible interventions that will prevent breast cancer and other diseases, now and fo...r future generations. Developed by Breast Cancer Prevention Partners with input from a wide range of stakeholders, Paths to Prevention uses a social justice lens, calling for societal-level interventions, rather than changes in individual behaviors. Paths to Prevention covers 23 breast cancer risk factors, offers over 75 tangible interventions, and provides an action plan of local, regional, and statewide measures to reduce breast cancer risk in California.
