With the rain gone and the sun coming through the clouds, we are feeling this fresh new energy from @rootandsplendor room and body spray. New product at BYO Long Beach! Made in Vista, California with simple ingredients and organic, wild-crafted essential oils.

Our outdoor shopping event this past Sunday was a great success! So many people came out to support us and our shop neighbors! We will definitely plan another one really soon since in-store shopping isn’t something we are ready for yet. I know that so many shops have opened up, but we talked about it as a team and have unanimously decided to continue with front door service appointments. We can get you everything you need while keeping staff and customers safe. We have unique products in bulk bins that could be so easily contaminated, as well as items like dried spices, herbs, teas, toothpaste, and other personal care products that just add a whole layer of complications when opening back up. Tomorrow 10/25 we will be joining our neighbors at @3womenco, @burkemercantile, and @6thanddetroit for an outdoor market on our street! All women owned local businesses! BYO Long Beach will offer 10% off all day for all sales. Appointments for front door service will be served as usual, but I will have an additional mini set up outside with some of our basic refills like hand soap, dish soap, lotion, and a few other low waste goods. No appointment necessary for outside, but ...if you plan to do a bunch of other refills not listed above, please make an appointment to be sure that you have all the time you need. Happy Saturday morning! I’m so happy the English Breakfast tea is finally back in stock! Sometimes I drink it black, sometimes I add a splash of plant based milk. Either way it tastes so much better in bulk than stale old tea bags, and using a reusable tea bag or infuser makes it easy to avoid the trash. Typical tea bags are lined with plastic and cannot fully break down in a compost bin, and definitely won’t break down in the landfill. #makelesstrash #zerowastetea #bulktea

If you are using our laundry detergent, please remember that it is concentrated! You only need 1-2 tablespoons for a load a laundry. Compare that to most of the laundry detergents you purchase at the grocery store which often need 1/4 cup or more because they add water. Yes, ours will cost more per ounce but you will need way less per load so it will last much longer. This 16 ounce bottle can last our family about a month or more, and we have an old top loader style so we oft...en need 2 tablespoons. High efficiency (HE) washing machines only need 1 tablespoon. Save yourself some money and get an actual measuring spoon or shot glass. Each tablespoon is about 25 cents, so one load of laundry should only cost 25-50 cents per load. We often have customers bring their giant Tide containers for refills, those are easily 100-200 ounces, so it gets expensive! We are happy to provide an estimate for any product prior to refilling so you know how much you will be spending. Just ask! I finally got around to snapping the heads off a bunch of our old toothbrushes. The brush heads are not compostable, although they are plant based. But the bamboo handles are 100% biodegradable so they are headed to our compost bin! It may not be much plastic, but every little bit of plastic we can avoid that lives forever on this planet is a step in the right direction. #makelesstrash #bambootoothbrush
