Yet another teacher who is accused of molesting a child. This time, the 11 year old daughter of a former girlfriend. This crime allegedly took place more than 10 years ago, so if you were victimized by a child predator, don't think he or she can't be prosecuted and held accountable, even 10 years later.

It is amazing that, on average, these exonerated people spent 14.5 years in prison for crimes they did not convict. Next time you want to know why or how someone can defend 'criminals' - this is why - so innocent people don't go to prison or be executed. Funding and staffing for the public defender system needs to increase. Prosecutors need to exercise their powers and discretion with a eye towards justice and not merely obtaining convictions.

Incarcerating innocent people, sending people to jail on inflated charges or for excessively long sentences for non-violent crimes is costing taxpayers too much money. Finally something Washington can agree upon. Sentencing people to draconian period of incarceration in overcrowded prisons is not only a waste of taxpayers money but devastates families. Had we invested in education and mental health services for many of these offenders, they never would have ended up in the criminal justice system in the first place.

For the same reason the Gov. wants to consolidate water agencies, he should also consolidate school districts. We have almost 1000 school districts in California...(977 to be exact) with 977 separate administrations and 977 separate school boards with different policies - siphoning money away from kids and their education.
