Pro tip: Practice your ee vowels. This kiddo 14 years old and rocking her nasal placement/resonance. It’s a Pugh tune to sing. You should try it. Now we are m...oving on to tweaking her ee in that belt. A little less air, tongue forward in the front just behind the lower teeth and the back of the tongue lifted very high and tall. No over spreading. Bel canto always teaches modifying AWAY from this more compressed vowel. But the ee vowel, when done properly is the key to a strain free belt. Opera singers don’t belt. So, you can’t be surprised when your average classical singer/teacher avoids this. This is very athletic singing. Don’t overdo it. Always be sensitive. How do you know if you are doing it right? Well, if it lacks vibrato, it’s too stiff and you are probably blasting air. A well negotiated ee should bring RELIEF to these high belts. Never muscle your belt.
