Today at 12:11pm, dispatch received a call from a male subject who stated that he had stabbed and shot his girlfriend and was in his apartment on Joy Avenue. Mutual aid was utilized from multiple outside police agencies including North County SWAT. The call was a HOAX! This was determined after speaking to the resident who was at work and confirmed that all parties were safe at work and no one was home. The resident gave Police permission to make entry to confirm that no one was home. SWAT made entry and found the apartment empty. Police are investigating where the call came from. Although we are happy to determine that this reported crime did not happen, it certainly speaks to the level of support our North County agencies provide during a critical incident. Thanks to all those agencies that responded today!
