Happy holidays everyone! Today I won 3 times. A 5 year restraining order protecting my neighbor against a deranged stalker she never knew prior, my FOUR day trial with serious admonishments, blocking a move away, and last but not least, a denial of a DVTRO against my 3rd client. Sorry it’s been awhile since I’ve posted! With all of the rescheduled hearing dates, I’ve been slammed! But victories are still happening over here. Congrats to my client, Kenneth, whom was granted a move away the other day after a year battle. I love my clients! But now it’s time to start thinking about holiday planning. Happy Monday everyone! It is looking like the courts will be opening on May 26th! I do not believe it will be like it used to though in the sense that there will be live hearings etc. and instead it will be all virtual in some way or another. But I am looking forward to some sense of normalcy. If any of you are in need of a restraining order, divorce, or custody/support case/modification, I suggest giving me a call sooner rather than later so we are ready to go by the 26th. I am starting to get busy with new intakes so make sure you make your decision soon. Summertime is my busy season and with this COVID-19 situation, I imagine that there may come a point where I will not be able to take on new cases. So catch me while you can! Update. Courts will be closed through the end of April. I’ll be sending a mass email to all clients. What does this mean for my practice?! Nothing! I’m still in business and happy to serve you! If you have family court services mediation or a hearing scheduled in this time frame...the court will automatically reschedule it. When you ask? I have no idea....stay home and stay safe everyone. Big Update: The entire State of California is basically on lockdown. That is, a state-wide mandatory shelter in place that is not clear on enforcement (yet). It is a misdemeanor to not follow the new order, however. As promised, I have another crucial update. The courts will be closed tomorrow until April 6th and will reopen April 7th If things don’t get crazier. Stay home people! Get along with your families and don’t piss anyone off in a time like this. Let’s help each other get through this. It’s unclear whether restraining orders can be filed since the business office appears to be closed as well. Scary stuff but we will get through it! I’m still going to be working remotely. I’ve ma...de it back to my snowy hometown in central California. I’ll be here until things calm down. See my other posts regarding recommendations on what to do to take your mind off things. One other piece of advice I have is everyone should make sure to withdraw some cash and make sure your gas tanks are full. Banks are starting to limit amounts you can withdraw per day, so take notice of that. Having cash on hand is always something that’s a good idea in a time of crisis.
