Principal’s Message: December 11, 2020 "Dear Parents/Guardians, Due to the surge in COVID-19 cases in the county, Calaveras County Health and Human Services Agency (HHSA), Public Health Division, has instructed all county schools move to distance learning for the week of December 14th 18th. This will allow for a 3-week period where comingling is minimized and help ensure the health and safety of all our students and staff. All students will attend classes virtually next... week, please note the schedule change: Monday, December 14 - 1, 3, 5, 7 Tuesday, December 15 - 2, 4, 6, Advisory Wednesday, December 16 - 1, 3, 5, 7 Thursday, December 17 - 2, 4, 6, Advisory Friday, December 18 - 1-7 Winter recess is December 21, 2020 through January 1, 2021. Reminder that the California Department of Public Health strongly recommends if you travel outside our region for the holidays to self-quarantine for 14 days upon returning. This would mean your student would attend virtually. Although this is not ideal and may create a hardship, it will help us to minimize exposure to our students and staff and keep us open and safe. School will resume on Monday, January 4, 2021. Looking ahead to the second semester, we will continue with our hybrid model foreseeing no further directives from Public Health. Bret Harte has announced a tentative SAT School Day test date of April 13, 2021. Registration will open on January 5, 2021 for juniors only, and close on February 10, 2021. The cost is $68. Students on free or reduced lunches qualify for a fee waiver. Checks should be made out to BHHS. Juniors must register with Mrs. Grycel at the Fees window between 10am-3pm. To begin your study in preparation for the test, please use the free resources available through Collegeboard and Khan Academy. The use of SAT/ACT scores varies across the country. Under the guidance of Bret Harte Leadership (Pond Nation), we will be participating in Angels Camp Light Up the Night 2020 with a festive display by the Bret Harte Theater! If you'd like to see the city in lights, be sure to climb in your car, cuddle up and drive around Angels Camp Saturday evening! And, don't forget to cast your vote for the best decorated home, business or school in this year's Angels Camp Citywide Holiday Decoration Challenge! Voting Procedures c/o ...Angels Camp Business Association: "DRIVE THRU Community Voting Event: December 12th, 2020 ~ 5:30 to 8:30pm ~ Located in the parking lot of Calaveras Lumber and Bank of Stockton. Santa Claus will appear at the DRIVE THRU drop off station to collect contest ballots, wave to the kids and hand out candy canes. Due to COVID-19 restrictions, there will be no physical contact or picture opportunities with Santa this year, other than snapping a quick pic of him from your inside your car. We have to keep the line moving in order to collect all the contest ballots that evening. There will also be a donation station for Toys for Tots as well as the opportunity to purchase See’s Candy from Door of Hope."
