Brentwood Regional Community Chest 07.03.2021

VOLUNTEERS NEEDED! Our annual food basket and toy giveaway will look a lot different this year due to COVID-19. Although we will not be sorting\packing food on Friday night, we will still need volunteers to help with the toy sorting/packing during the week of December 12th. We are hoping to enlist small groups of family, friends or co-workers who are all part of a safe COVID bubble. You will be scheduled a specific time for your group to volunteer that will hopefully work for everyone and keep everyone safe. If you are interested in helping, please call Julie Hill at 925-519-8499.

Brentwood Regional Community Chest 15.01.2021

First thing Saturday morning, recipients of the Brentwood Regional Community Chest's annual holiday basket program arrived early to pick up their holiday turkey... with all the fixings, groceries and a huge bag full of age-appropriate toys/bikes for the kids. For hours, the line of recipients’ cars wound through Brentwood Elementary School’s parking lot (nearly 400 in all), through the parking lot of the church across the street, and all the way down Griffith Lane to Central Boulevard (see the line of cars depicted in multiple photos). At one time, volunteers said the cars actually backed up on Central Blvd. to Minnesota Avenue. Despite the chill of the morning, coupled with moist air from the fog, volunteers seemed to be in good spirits as the cars stopped at each station picking up items like fresh fruit and vegetables, a gallon each of milk and chocolate milk, a bag full of groceries, plus a fresh turkey, along with everything needed to prepare a holiday meal. For families with kids, large black bags stuffed with age-appropriate toys, bikes, scooters and other items were also loaded into the back of each of those cars. Due to COVID this year, the annual BRCC’s annual give-away program looked quite different, with a lot of drive-through donation events, as well as much smaller volunteer toy-sorting events. But despite the pandemic, the well-oiled BRCC machine of volunteers made it work. BRCC board members said that they were thrilled with the response from the public this year. They said that the community really stepped up, beyond what they could’ve ever imagined. For more information on the Brentwood Regional Community Chest, what it does or how you can get involved, go to: http://www.brcchest.org I also want to give a HUGE SHOUT OUT to all those that donated to my BRCC fundraiser. I am just floored by the generosity all together we raised $11,800 for the Brentwood Regional Community Chest WOW. THANK YOU!!!

Another successful Brentwood Regional Community Chest food and toy distribution today. Things looked a lot different this year, but we are so thankful to all those who donated money, toys and/or their time to make this happen. Many families will have a much brighter holiday because of our generous community. Thank you!!
