Doesn’t really look all that big... Cunningham Caleb
It was nice watching Pedro Castro work with my crew Nivardo, Cunningham Caleb, and Wes, take down a monster Deodar cedar yesterday. It takes some gumption to get up there and remove a large tree like that. Good work.
-WARNING- When the temperatures reach 100 degrees and higher valley oaks close their stomata to conserve water. This, along with little to no wind, can lead to sudden limb failure. Be careful not to seek out shade under mature valley oaks in the evenings following these high temperatures. If you hear loud popping sounds, run away from trunk as fast as possible. Any tree is susceptible to limb failure, but mature valley oaks are known for this behavior. End weight reduction on the heavy cantilevered branches is a must to decrease the chance of such an event.
Droppin’ top.
Once in awhile you get shown the light, in the strangest places if you look at them right.
Black Oak Down (not a movie)
Sometimes I like to play with big wood. don’t tell anybody.
When in doubt, cut it out. Even if it’s touching an apartment.
Safety first!!!
