Numerous community members have recently contacted me with questions and concerns regarding Aegis opening a methadone clinic in Vandenberg Village. Specifically, at 3769 Constellation Road, Lompoc, CA . Due to zoning, Aegis cannot operate a "medical clinic" at the proposed location on Constellation Road without a conditional use permit ("CUP"). Aegis has applied for a CUP and the application will go before the Santa Barbara County Planning Commission for a decision to grant o...r deny the CUP. The law requires that a public hearing is held on application for a CUP with advance public notice and an opportunity to be heard. It is anticipated that the Santa Barbara County Planning Commission will hold the public hearing on the CUP sometime in January or February 2020. If you want notice on the public hearing so that you may have an opportunity to be heard on the CUP at the hearing, email [email protected] and request placement on the notification list for 19CUP-00000-00028. Also, anyone who has concerns regarding Aegis’ application for a CUP should address their concerns in writing to [email protected] so that the Planning Commission has a chance to review those concerns before issuing a decision on the CUP at the hearing. The applicant (Aegis), or an aggrieved party, may appeal the Planning Commission’s decision on the CUP to the Board of Supervisors. It is my understanding that as a result of the strong community opposition to the proposed medical clinic on Constellation Road, Supervisor Joan Hartmann will hold special office hours this week on October 30, 2019 from 4:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. at the Mission Club, 4300 Clubhouse Road, Lompoc, CA, so that community members may voice their concerns with her.

Our thoughts and prayers go out to the victims and their family and friends of the tragic event that occurred in our neighboring county.
