Boost Surfing 31.03.2021

Hi everyone, here's what happened during this week: - All the parts for the first 100 Boost Fins (fin body, duct, ring, propeller adapter, propeller, rubber pads, spacers, antennas, screws, battery, chargers, motors, ESC, screwdriver, longboard adapter’s insert, nut, cap, FOAM parts, rubber gaskets, jack) will be ready on 13.12. After that, it will take 5-7 days for the painting process. - Finishing all the necessary corrections of the mold (the charging jack, the cap for the charging jack and the groove for the antenna), the final shot will be ready on the 13th Dec. - The first prototype of the original (custom) remote is ready, we’ve inserted the PCB in it and are testing its waterproof qualities.

Hi everyone! Here's a fresh update: - We’re all very pleased with how the Pro remote turned out to be. The developers and Alex and Dmitri had tested it and it exceeded our expectations, everything works fine. There will be a GPS and an accelerometer inside it. We’ve ordered plastic casings for it in Japan and they’re on their way to our production facility for assembly. ... - We’ve launched mass-production of the main PCB (motherboard), which is excellent news. If you've been following the updates for a long time, then you know that this was one of the most complicated components in the Fin, and a very long process in terms of production. Now we can be sure that the PCBs won’t detain us any longer. - We’re testing and approving the molds for the adapters. The longboard ones have been ready for a long time, so we only need to produce and test the molds for all the remaining adapters. - There was a slight holdback with the jack, but it’s been resolved. The nut wasn’t sitting in tightly enough which made the jack not entirely waterproof and we would have to use a sealant, which we didn’t want to do. It was supposed to fit in the mold perfectly without the need to seal it, but the supplier at the end said they cannot provide such a solution to us. We had a second supplier that will be able to provide that part. At the moment we’re planning on beginning shipping at the end of December, and we’re doing our best to make it happen. - We've tested the iOS version of the Boost Surfing app, received great feedback, will release the Android version soon as well.

Hi everyone, here's this week's latest update: - We're inspecting the new plastic casing sample. If all is good, we will assemble the first 100 fins (all the other components for them are ready) and will ship those in December. - 2000 additional units, which we’ve ordered last week, are in the process of production, including additional screwdrivers, batteries, modules, and other components. - Samples of original custom remotes are on their way to our CTO Alex in Bali and to... our European R&D office for tests. After we receive their feedback, we can begin the assembling. - We are waiting for strap samples for the Pro remotes and will send them to our CTO for tests. At the same time, we’ve ordered 2240 casings for those remotes, so when we have the PCBs and casings ready, we can assemble Pro remotes. - We're searching for a better charging jack solution - the one that we currently have doesn’t meet our waterproof standards, so we are checking other options. Hi everyone! Here are some updates on what we've been busy with this week: - We’ve ordered 2000 units of improved (pro) remotes. At the same time, we’re making custom original remotes, working on the mold for it, waiting for quotas and a test sample. This remote can be worn on a wrist, a shoulder or attached to a board. ... - We found a manufacturer of a car charger, waiting for their quota and a test sample. - Final updates to the mold that will have the new antenna should be ready in 1.5 weeks. - Finishing work on the boxes, they should be ready at the end of next week. - 6 new addons will be ready before the end of the month - the Boost Fin case, a safety bumper, a safety leash, a car charger, a Pro version of the remote and a snorkelling adapter, they will be available in our online store and you can add those accessories to your order. More news to come next week. Have a great weekend, everyone!

Hey Boosters! We've been receiving questions with concerns about the connection stability between the Boost Fin and the remote. How deep can it go before losing the connection? Is it Bluetooth? Here are the answers! The connection between the remote and the Boost Fin is a 433 MHz. It is a wireless radio band between the transmitter and the receiver having such advantages as better frequency stability over a wider temperature range and low power consumption. The connection s...tability is guaranteed up to a depth of 6.5 ft (2 metres) and 985 ft (300 meters) above the water. We use Bluetooth connection only between the remote and your mobile device. We've tested the remotes and there were no connectivity problems, the Fin was perfectly responsive and easy to control with a push of a button! We know what interests you the most, so we'll share a new update soon, stay tuned!

Hey guys! Ever wondered how the Boost Fin was created? Meet Dmitri Kozhevnikov and Alex Ostanin - passionate surfers and our founders. As amateur surfers, Alex and Dmitri really struggled to get into the line-up practising surfing in Huntington Beach, famous for its swells. Having an old shoulder injury, Alex realized that it would be a major obstacle for him, so he suggested coming up with some solution that can help people get into the lineup quicker. Dmitri supported the i...dea and suggested putting a motor inside a fin. The idea of an eFin that will give you that push to get to the lineup, to surf longer and to catch more waves, was born. Having an engineering degree, Alex got busy with bringing this solution to life. He has created the first prototype and together with Dmitri, they began surfing non-stop and testing it. This is how the first electric fin was born.

Hi guys! Sorry about the lack of updates the last few weeks, we’ve just been waiting on the ETA of some final components to tell you the exact shipping dates. So here's the update: There are delays with the remote. Initially, we planned on selling the improved version separately and including the simplified version in the box. But there are concerns over the workability of the main control button, so we will most likely have to ship the improved version to everyone. Currently..., we have two versions of remotes: the simple original version and the improved version. The original version has its advantages - it’s smaller and has 4 buttons for different set-ups (you can set your own modes for each button). When we had tested the final version of the original remote from mass production, we discovered a problem that we’re currently trying to solve. If for some reason we can’t solve those issues, we will be shipping the Pro version to everyone. The improved remote maintains the connection with the fin at longer distances, has GPS for future in-app features and supports wireless charging. Other than final remotes all the components for the first 50 fins are ready to be assembled and shipped. We will ship the first 50 Boost Fins on the 30th of September (with the initial demo remote). If you want to receive your fin earlier than others (with the test remote), send us an email to [email protected] and we will ship those orders two weeks earlier than the main batch! The next 2000 fins will be ready on the 15th of October and that’s when we expect to begin shipping. By that time we will be able to resolve all the questions with the control buttons and will be shipping either the improved or the original remote, and will proceed to ship approx. 2000 fins every two weeks.

Surf etiquette and respect for others is always a hot topic. We've received this comment from one of our followers which we wanted to share with you: "I’m 50 and simply not in the same surfing shape as I was in my teens and 20’s. I’m only able to get in the ocean about a dozen times a year now. For the last 10 to 15 years I’ve been bodyboarding with fins because I simply don’t have good paddle strength anymore. I’m looking forward to using the boost fin and most likely will... use it at a break far away from those who have wave priority with good paddle strength. I’m respectful of the ocean and the essence of surfing. The real issue is being ignorant to wave priority and making sure you don’t drop in on someone who has already caught the wave and is coming down the line. There’s nothing like walking on the water. Especially for a soul surfer. Bottom line, don’t be a kook. Learn wave and ocean etiquette. Paddle out without blocking the wave line." This is a strong message, which we totally agree with. Many will say that the Boost Fin will bring more kooks into the water who will cut others off. But the truth is - the fin has absolutely no power over you - you’re the one controlling it, and whatever you do with it, it’s your choice. Kooks will always be kooks, with the fin or without. We encourage mindful surfing and respect for others. Don't drop in on or snake your fellow surfer, this way everyone will enjoy their rides. Peace!

Hey guys! In today's FAQ, we collected some of the most asked questions we've received recently and here are the answers, read on! How does the Boost Fin perform in cold waters? Cold season is coming and naturally, you're wondering if you can still use the Boost Fin and how well does it perform in cold temperatures. We haven't tested it in the subzero temperatures, but our engineering team says that it won't impact the performance. However, the battery might not last as lo...ng as in normal conditions. Will I be able to use the charger in Japan/Australia/etc? Definitely, the charger is 100-240V so it can be used in any country in the world. We strongly advise using the original charger included in the box, otherwise, you can damage the battery. The charger comes with a removable US/EU plug, you just need to attach a travel adapter if sockets in your country are different. How safely the fin is attached to the board? What if I lose it? The fin is securely attached to your board and will not fall off. But we will soon add more accessories to our web store and you'll be able to purchase a leash for the fin for extra safety and peace of mind! If you want to know something else, just leave a comment with your questions and we'll gladly answer them! UPD. We've received a few comments about the white water that we've mentioned in the text. We'd like to apologize for this misinformation but some of our creative team guys are more into SUPs :) So what we really meant, of course, was not the white water in the sea, but rather whitewater river SUP surfing.
