Every year, we put out a year in review newsletter and a highlight reel (see link below). We had the opportunity to work with so many great companies and influencers over the past year, and we are truly grateful. In our newsletter, we talked about how 2019 saw the rise of podcasting and TikTok and how following levels have become almost obsolete. As for the past decade, if the 2000s were all about the Internet, this one was all about social media. For better or worse, it is t...he thing that’s had the biggest impact on our lives. Still hard to believe that in early 2010, most people still had flip phones, and they certainly weren’t consuming video content on mobile. Nobody could imagine that basic things like a conversation and friendships could be disrupted, but indeed they have. As we move into the 20s and try to navigate this new reality, I personally pray for better communication and deeper relationships with each other. There’s no text or funny meme on your phone that is more important than the person sitting across from you. Even if your phone is 10x more entertaining than that person, they still deserve your undivided attention. I hope we develop better social media habits like monitoring our usage and checking in with ourselves to see how it may be affecting our mood. While the 2D world is alluring, it can also be a clever trickster who makes us believe things are real when we’re only seeing an edited version of reality. The physical (and spiritual) world always has to take priority. Us being present is truly our present to each other. Thanks again, guys.
