Wow! Look how white the flattened pistil is on this Sarracenia purpurea! Candy cane white and red! Normal pistil coloring is as on the flower at the right (swipe right), a bit greenish, or sometimes red blushed if the plants have intensely red flowers. If there were a market for flowering Sarracenia, or for cut flowers, there is plenty of genetic diversity available for doing breeding and selecting work in this species alone.... Yeah. I know. Geek talk. But when one works with the same species for 50 years, making similar crosses every year, the little details begin to seem more important.
