With the eve of Spring Equinox just around the corner, it’s a great time to pick up a copy of Deeply Rooted. This book, written and published in 2016 tells about my journey w herbs and how I learned to tend herbs in the heart of San Francisco. It’s a short and easy read, inspiring thousands to take to their gardens to grow medicine. This is the second edition, printed last year. Pick up a copy today in my online shop. Link in profile! Happy reading and growing ! #deeplyrootedbook #garden #urbanagriculture #herbalmedicine #medicinegarden #herbs #herbswork #urban #herbalist #selfpublished

I went on IG Live today with my friend and collaborator @self.heal.herbs to give a sneak peak into the online medicine gardening class I’m teaching this weekend as a fundraiser for @bay.hrt. Sam and I met when we spent a summer growing herbs together in The Mission in 2015. It was so nice to catch up with Sam on the technical skills of growing medicinal herbs as well as some of the energy of the plants that comes through when growing them. If you want to know more about how t...o kick start your herbal garden this year, register for the sliding scale virtual class Sat Feb 13, link in bio. Even more fun was this evening I listened to Sam’s most recent podcast episode about Dandelion on Herb at the End of the World with @seed.minkin! They don’t spare you any details on the wonder of this incredible plant ally Go check it out wherever you listen to podcasts. And, to support their work check out their incredible offerings on Patreon. #herbalist #medicinegarden #urbanfarm #rosemary #yarrow #ancestralmedicine #herbs #growyourmedicine #seeds #spring See more

THIS Saturday! I’m teaching the essential medicine gardening class that I’ve taught for the past five years, for the first time online! Growing herbs is different from growing food because they are WILD, rather than their cultivated veggies cousins. And as herbalists and herb growers we can only make potent medicine with potent herbs, which is why we must grow the herbs with a WILD QUALITY (and not wild craft aka perpetuate settler colonialism). Want to know more about what this means for you and how to make the most of your spring garden? Join me and @bay.hrt this Saturday February 13th, 10-12pm. #herbs #herbalism #garden #herbalmedicine #wildquality #growyourmedicine #gardening #urbangarden #plantmagic

2020: Hella Tinctures + Gardens This year put forward what is essential; get plants to people! This work would not be possible without the collaborations I found with herbalists across the pacific coast, via #getradboilroots, herbalists and nonprofits in the Bay Area via @bay.hrt and building a living apothecary with @alemany_farm. It has always been an honor to call this my work and to know it is my path, but I could not do it with out your support! Thank you to all my loyal patrons, who give anywhere from $2-$20/month to sustain the community herbalism I do. If you would like to join this fabulous group of folks, follow the link to #patreon in my profile! I offer videos, moon rituals and seasonal herbal boxes. Yes! Community herbalism for the win! Thank you! Let’s keep it going in 2021! #gratitude #top9of2020

I’m thrilled to announce that Seed to Bottle Workday Series is a go! We will meet outdoors as a small SD group, Feb - May to learn the art and skills of medicinal plant cultivation. I’m humbled and honored to lead this series @alemany_farm Medicine Garden. This is the fifth or sixth or seventh time I’ve taught this type of class, but only the second time it’s been in an actual garden. So roll up your sleeves and sign up to get dirty, learn multi-cycle germination, greenhous...e techniques, planting and harvesting from the plants themselves. Together we will review materia médica of local plants, rejoice in the birth of spring, and continue to build a local medicine chest in the earth of SF, CA. Sign up, or read more at link in bio. This class will change your relationship to the natural world, but don’t ask me, swipe to see what pat students say! #seed2bottle #alemanyfarm #sanfrancisco #herbs #herbalism #seeds #urbanagriculture #growyourmedicine See more

That goodie golden light I’m gonna boost the algorithm while I let y’all in on a little secret. Every week since #pandemic started I’ve committed to HIKE DAY. Which has included but is not limited to urban hikes, East Bay hikes, Marin hikes, beach hikes, and Peninsula hikes. It’s so important to keep an eye out for our physical, emotional, mental and spiritual wellbeing during these uncertain times. Hike Day checks all these boxes for me! I have an accountability buddy, pic...tured here, @sham.francisco who is always cracking me up, and keeping me in check. Today she kindly reminded me of all the best parts of winter. HIKE DAY is a brilliant excuse to get off the screen. To get in steps! To notice wildlife, witness the seasons. It’s grounding and an important reminder that even tho we feel stuck inside a lot the earth’s rhythms are alive and well within us and around us. Daylight savings is around the corner and as we enter the threshold of this spooky-fun weekend, we enter the time when the days get shorter and shorter and shorter. Welcome Winter. Welcome darkness. Welcome deep peace. Welcome rituals of wellness. Welcome dreams and reflection. #samhain #winter #portal #witch #california #sunset

GOOD MORNING TEA An overnight infusion for game-changing mornings. Remember how Wheaties tried to convince us that a combination of wheat and bran flakes was the breakfast of champions? This is not that. This tea acts as a liquid multivitamin soothes every cell in the body. It provides trace mineral + nutrients and aids in deep rejuvenation to the nervous system.... This tea made of Nettles, Oat Tops, Oatstraw, Lemon Balm, Ginger and Lemon Verbena is like breakfast in a bottle. I personally drink this tea, or one like it daily. I prepare it the night before to ensure a successful start to my day. After 8+ hrs of steeping the extraction is a powerful brew. It’s hard to pinpoint how, but I know I think better, concentrate longer, get less munchie, and overall more productive when I start my day with Good Morning Tea. NETTLES, it’s hard to say exactly what this herb is good for because it’s good for so much! Contains trace minerals, chlorophyll, iron, even a bit of protein. OAT TOPS and OATSTRAW come from the same plant, Avena, which is the same plant we eat for breakfast. It’s soothing, nutritive and a gentle tonic for the nervous system. LEMON BALM is known as an antiviral and gentle nervous system tonic. Soothe your stress or bounce back from a long night. GINGER will gently warm and awaken you and acts as a counter balance to the cooling energy of Nettles. LEMON VERBENA as a protection spell and to give ease; a ray of sunshine for any season. #nettles #tea #goodmorning #lemonbalm #oatstraw #oattops #lemonverbena #ginger #overnightoats #overnightinfusion

DARK MOON BREW An overnight infusion for people who bleed. This tea, packed with trace minerals and relaxing, nutritive herbs was designed as a remedy to ease common PMS symptoms. RASPBERRY LEAF is known to reduce cramping, and holds a strong affiliation to the uterus and contains magnesium, the mineral required for muscle contractions. ... DANDELION LEAF is a supreme diuretic, meaning that it can reduce breast tenderness and any swelling associated with holding water. OATSTRAW is nutritive and soothing to the nervous system. GOJI BERRY invokes the color of bright, healthy blood and is a reminder of the sacredness of standing in your power. ROSE GERANIUM brings a sweet, citrus flavor that lifts the mood and imbues self love. Inspired by my own body and the qualms and questions of clients, customers and loved ones with difficult periods, may the magick of the plants bring you a little more ease. When prepared as an overnight infusion, or allowed to sit for 8 hrs, and taken for 1 week before bleeding, Dark Moon Brew is a powerful blend of herbs you will want to keep stocked in your kitchen apothecary. #darkmoon #herbaltea #raspberryleaftea #dandelion #oatstraw #herbalism #gojiberry #rosegeranium #tea #brew

ROOT LIKE RADICAL Support your immune system the old fashioned way! Woody plants must be prepared in a different way than leaves and flowers. In herbalism it’s called a decoction; it’s kinda like making rice. First bring it to a boil and then let it simmer. We will be discussing and making root medicine in my class of the same name @witchesconfluence next weekend. All participants will want some roots to boil, if you’re looking for some roots for class, look no further!... Root Like Radical is astragalus, burdock and reishi mushroom. These woody roots (and one mushroom) have historically been cooked into broths and tea during fall and winter to support a strong immune system. Remember, the best time to take deep immune modulators is *before* you get sick. Roots, like radicals aim to address the root cause of dis-harmony. In this time of pandemic and political un-ease this trifecta of herbs can be used for grounding, stress relieving and immune system support. Available now in my online shop. Fall is the season of death. As you know, this week we celebrate the Fall Equinox. Perhaps you know I like to think of the Equinox as the midpoint, or climax of fall, not the beginning. To me, fall starts late August and ends early November. This is the time when the light surrenders to the dark. When the nights become longer than the days. The plants respond to this by going in, by dying back, by becoming dormant, by growing and flowering much less (for the most part).... We should too. Fall is the season of death. It is the time to let go of what no longer serves us. It is a season of change, of compost. Let go. Remember that compost gives new life. Remember that death is rebirth. Hold in your heart that spring will come, that covid will be over, that another world is possible. But for now; be like a plant. Allow the change of seasons to change you. This is why many folks reach out during this time for more support. I am accepting new clients for one more week! Reach out if you are interested in learning more about my practice, or sign up at bonnieroseweaver.com. Link in bio.

Happy Whale Wednesday y’all! You might be thinking, what’s whale Wednesday and why are we celebrating? Well, first off I did not invent whale Wednesday - it’s a thing on the internet* (*may have existed before the internet too, unclear) where we celebrate the big, wild animal most closely associated w Humpday! Humpback-hump day, see what I did there?? So why whales? They’re amazing of course! For me, whales remind me of the expansiveness that we often forget about or ju...st don’t have access to as city dwellers. They help the ocean compost by moving between the workers -yeah like magick worlds- because they go between the top of the ocean when they surface, all the way down to the very bottom. Also, being the largest animal (we know about)!they have the biggest hearts sink into that for a second! For this reason, and because sing to communicate, and some travel in pods, whale essence, or the vibrational energy of a whale represents community healing, allowing us to understand that if we are willing to work on our own healing we are ultimately healing the community. Because we are all connected! One more reason to love this majestic underwater Pacific coast neighbor! Why do you love whales, what energy to they give you? Happy Whale Wednesday! See more

There should be an ancient law that says if the sun doesn’t rise, no work is done. But we live in a society where the work is done even when we can’t get to work, even when the whole place is on fire, and even when the sun doesn’t rise. So I’m like f**k work. Work is a f*****g scam. But you know what? That doesn’t cut it when we’re on our cosmic path doing our life’s work. We need to do our deepest work on days like this, the meditation and prayer and listening work. Goddess, bless this work of connecting plants and people for deeper connection to purpose and place. May there be deep healing, deep remembering and may the two leggeds learn to live in right relationship with this beautiful place called Earth.

I wrote Deeply Rooted in the spring and summer of 2016 and it completely changed my life. It uprooted me so many times I stopped counting. The years that followed publication asked me to live and commit to this work in ways I would not have reached without putting these words out into the world. Some of the feed back I’ve gotten about #deeplyrootedbook is that it changed the way many readers think about herbalism, because it’s not just about plants. Its political. It’s abou...t my radical heart and how EVERYONE needs access to plants as medicine. Especially city people. Especially people who breathe. Especially people with ancestors. Especially working class people and people of color and queers and differently abled people and children and elders. Its about the community that was built between CSA members, students and healers and gardeners and curious city dwellers like @sam.raridon.herbal, @rrrrosi @fivepinsproject, @wellinthewest, @littlecitygardens, @circleca, @sorrynotmari. It’s a book about how to grow an herb that might change or save your life. At the 3 year mark we had sold 1000 copies, and people were still asking for it. So I decided to republish. It’s back in stock! Pick up a second edition copy today in my online shop. Shipping out to herb shops soon, stay tuned for locations. See more
