About this recent case, Attorney Ram Fletcher, who handles cases against Uber and other rideshare companies, cautions that the decision is not the end of the road for workers raising misclassification claims against the ride-sharing company. I think what [the] ruling reflects is the court’s strong deference to the enforceability of Uber’s arbitration agreements even when many Uber users are likely totally unaware of the rights they are waiving when they download the application, said Fletcher.

Attorney Ram Fletcher was quoted in a recent article published by the American Association of Justice in the online edition of its Trial magazine www.justice.org regarding a significant September 2018 ruling by the 9th Circuit Court of Appeal decertifying a class of plaintiffs making claims against Uber and requiring them to arbitrate their claims individually. Drivers had complained that Uber misclassified them as independent contractors to avoid having to reimburse them for... gasoline, vehicle maintenance and other expenses. Fletcher, who handles cases against Uber and other rideshare companies, cautions that the decision is not the end of the road for workers raising misclassification claims against the ride-sharing company.
