Loud or wild parties are a huge concern for anybody who owns or manages a vacation rental. In the best case, it annoys the neighbors. But if it happens repeatedly, they will demand a ban for vacation rentals in their neighborhood. That’s not a desirable outcome for owners, managers and guests. In a worst case scenario, a party turns violent like the one in Orinda. As responsible vacation rental owners and managers with a no tolerance policy for parties, we applaud Airbnb‘s i...ncreased commitment to preventing parties at the booking level. However, we realize they may not always be able to see all the signs, so there is still a risk. Like many other hosts, we use a noise level sensor that cannot listen to conversations, but alerts us of excessive noise levels. If we get an alert, we will go through a series of steps to determine, if a party may be in progress. We will then attempt to stop the party or - as a last resort - evict the guests.
