It's About Time Baby 10.11.2020

#3 of 5 Surprising things about me: In 2003 I entered into an 11 month training to become a Pilates instructor. I needed something to focus on, to distract me from all the pain I was feeling as my marriage was falling apart. The training was intense and it kept my mind busy learning & memorizing, and it definitely kept my body busy too! After I became certified, I taught a mat class 2x per week as well as a handful of private clients for the next 3 years.... I moved back to West Los Angeles and got an interview with a high end private club. Prior to my interview, I researched the woman who would be critiquing my training session - she was the Western Regional Pilates Manager for over 100 locations and a Master Trainer with over 15 years experience! I immediately began doubting my abilities, my knowledge, my technique, everything. The day of my interview arrived. The client I was given to train was an older man, very inflexible and he had no prior knowledge of pilates. That, combined with all my self-doubt, had me stammering for words, cues, and ideas as to how to train this man. I BOMBED the interview then swore to never teach again. Fast forward 12 years (late 2019)A friend gifted me 3 sessions at a local pilates studio. While taking the classes (and reconnecting with my LOVE for pilates) I was talking casually to the owner and told her I used to be an instructor. She asked if I’d like to teach again. I froze. The memory of my last interview rushed back to me. But, then I realized something. I’ve changed. I’m no longer the woman I was a decade ago. I trust myself now. I am confident now. I accepted the job - and now I teach again and I LOVE IT. Thanks Katie!! GRACE the Health Studio Your past doesn’t equal your present. Try it again. If you’d like to chat with me about how you can rewrite your story, I’d be honored to help. https://app.acuityscheduling.com/schedule.php?owner=14515626 Much love to you.

#2 of 5 Surprising things about me: It was 2004 when I left my husband and moved to the Valley from West Los Angeles where I’d lived for many years. I wasn’t feeling very good about myself back then I was feeling pretty lost in life, guilty and ashamed at having failed at marriage. ... I wanted to make some new friends in the Studio City area where I was now living. One day sitting in a local coffee shop I spotted a flyer on the bulletin board that caught my eye. It read: Learn to be a stand up comedian in just 9 weeks! I remember thinking - I LOVE comedy, and maybe this would be a good way for me to meet some fun people in the area it was also kinda scary AND exciting - so I signed up! Over the 9 weeks of the course, I learned how to put together a routine that made people laugh. I also met some really nice, supportive people. The class would culminate with all of us doing our gig on stage at a small local comedy place called the Ha Ha Cafe in North Hollywood. I took the stage shaking like a leaf but I got through it. Then, something amazing happened. A man in the crowd approached me and 2 other classmates and invited all 3 of us to do our routines again in a few weeks at THE COMEDY STORE on Sunset Blvd.!!! HOLY CRAP! I did my routine a few weeks later at the Comedy Store to a much bigger audience wearing a tank top and jeans that I later burned because I sweat so much in them BUT I DID IT!! Once again - I totally surprised myself - I was a stand up comic! It proved to me that I could do way more than I ever thought I could. It was also one of those experiences that made me feel ALIVE! Heart pounding, sweating bullets, oh-my-God-kind of alive! I also learned, without a doubt, that fear and excitement feel much the same. It also helped to pull me out of my funk and set me off in a new direction, feeling confident in ME. Tell me, what is something that you’ve done that you never thought you could? Let me know about your badass self!

Getting to know me better: Here’s 1 of 5 surprising things you probably didn’t know about methey also surprised me too! I used to sell hair...no kidding! :)... In my early twenties I worked for a cosmetic hair replacement doctor in Santa Monica. If you’re not familiar - they remove hair from the back of the head and transplant it on the top of the head on men experiencing male pattern baldness. (ie. hair plugs :) ) I started in the front office as an administrator. But, I wanted to talk to the potential patients about their hair loss. I thought I could help them feel better about the process. So, I had to speak up and ask for the job...and that was not something I was good at doing back then - I lacked the confidence. But, my desire to help the patients was stronger than my fear of rejection. I sat down with the doctor and shared my idea. He was skeptical and believed the men wouldn’t be comfortable talking to a woman (me) about their hair loss. I convinced him that I could make them feel comfortable. I also, I believed the men cared a whole helluva lot more about what a WOMAN thought about their hair loss than what HE THOUGHT. You know what? I totally surprised myself, and got the job! Plus, I was right - the men DID feel more comfortable talking to me and they cared what I thought about their situation. I became the first female in California to hold the job as a consultant to men in this typically male-dominated field of hair transplants. (I also made more money than I ever had before!) That job also was an early indicator for me around my love for helping others and being in service all a part of my journey to where I am today as a Life Coach. What can you achieve that might surprise you? I’d love to help you uncover your potential... Let me ask youare you lacking in confidence? Do you have trouble trusting yourself? If your answer is yes Why? ... Is it because you break your promises to yourself? Because you’re afraid others will judge you if you put yourself out there? Is it because you have trouble living your values in moments that are challenging? These days, I’m a pretty confident person. But I wasn’t always so sure on how to gain confidence in my life! It’s not like you can just wake up one morning confident. It takes a little more work then that I’m sorry to say! Here’s a few things I’ve learnt along the way that help though: - Saying NO when you need to, protecting the time and energy you set aside for yourself. - Not using hurtful words and thoughts to others or yourself about yourself! - Show yourself compassion and stop judging yourself at times when you need help! - By giving yourself the benefit of the doubt and choosing to see the best of you. I want you to identify and decide on one way you can start building more trust in yourself. Maybe it’s a commitment to talk more kindly to yourself or to make it your mission to follow through on your next promise no matter what. The way to build your confidence is to first prove to yourself that you have your own back because if you don’t, no one else will! And if you feel like you need some more help building up your confidence? I’d be honored to help you. My next intake of the Feel Good Junkie’s group coaching program is opening soon and it’s the perfect environment to build that confidence! Trust. It can make or break any relationship. There’s lots of criteria to check off when we set out to establish trust with someone. It’s built through a series of events, exchanges and small moments such as: - Honoring our boundaries, if we say no - they don’t push us... - Being reliable - showing up when they say they will - By holding us to our highest self - keeping us lovingly accountable - Keeping our secrets sacred - they don’t share our business - By showing integrity - not just talking about it, but by living it, even when things get tough - Being compassionate and non-judgmental - when we need it the most - By choosing to see the best in us - generously giving us the benefit of the doubt Once trust is built, confidence, love and respect follow. If you turn all of these back onto yourselfhonor your own boundaries, keep promises to yourself, forgive your shortcomings and show yourself integrity, kindness and compassion you begin to demonstrate to yourself that you are deserving of trust. Then, it only makes sense that your self confidence, self love and self respect will skyrocket right? So, tell me. If trust is so important in our relationships with others, why aren’t you making it a priority to trust and therefore love, respect and feel confident with yourself? It’s time to build that inner relationship. And this is one you can’t afford to break.

You keep saying you want to be more confident. The thing is though, it’s easier said than done right? It’s not like you can say a few affirmations, meditate a handful of times and POOF! You’re suddenly confident. It has to come from within. ... The key to feeling confident within yourself is trusting in yourself. When I look closely at situations where I’ve really had to draw on my confidence like: - When I walked out on the stage for my bikini competition. - Whenever I speak up and share my opinion at a social gathering. - Every time I share a piece of content on social media or hit send on an email to you. - When I walk into a room full of strangers and have to introduce myself. I realized that in each of those moments, the thing that allows me to walk confidently or speak confidently or share confidently is that I have built up trust with myself. - Did I trust that I put in the hard work to wear that bikini ? - Do I trust that my opinions are well thought-out and sincere when I speak up? - Do I trust in my message enough that even if no one likes it or shares my email, that I won’t stop putting it out there? - Do I trust that even if I introduce myself to a stranger and they have no interest in what I say or do that it won’t affect my self-image? The trust you have with yourself is what your confidence is built on. So how do you build trust within yourself? Sometimes it takes trusting yourself enough to realize you need to ask for help to take the first step into transformation. I’d love to help you do so and my Feel Good Junkies Group Coaching Program is the perfect place to get help you build that trust and find your confidence. It’s an inside job! Now before you go thinking I’ve turned this page into some kind of NEWS forum, I’m not talking about some bank heist or that Matt Damon documentary about global financial crisis I’m talking about you, sister, and your level of confidence! ... We think of confidence as something that’s dependent upon the behavior of other people and whether or not they will accept or reject our opinions or actions in any given situation.but honestly? Relying on external factors and opinions to determine your own confidence is just a practice in giving away your power. Instead, we have to think about confidence as an inside job. You have to build up your own self trust, moment by moment, event by event. Then you will build up enough trust in yourself to KNOW that the actions or responses from other people won’t stop you from going after your dreams. As a result, your inner self will then feel safe enough to create, and go forward confidently. I’d love to know, who currently determines your confidence levels? If you answer honestly, is the answer who it should be? What do you think you could do, today, right now, to take back your confidence?

I often hear from clients: Julie, you’re so confident - I don’t know how you do it, but I feel like I could never be that confident. And one of my favorite parts of my work is seeing those same clients grow in confidence and learn to trust themselves, just like I witnessed with my client Jules who recently participated in the Feel Good Junkies Group coaching program. Jules joined the program thinking she’d like to get in better shape and lose some weight. But she had no... idea that as she got deeper into the program, what she needed was something else. She realized her life had become too chaotic in areas and she no longer was enjoying life. She had lost her spark. I just felt like I didn't have respect for myself or confidence in myself. Throughout the program, Jules realized that everything she did in life was about serving someone else, from the activities she does, the relationship she stayed in, even right down to her name! Jules discovered that this journey was about more than transforming her appearance, it was about transforming her mind and soul. Week by week, little by little, as she showed up for herself, she gained the strength and confidence to make some tough decisions and set herself free. She now lives a peaceful life for her and her alone. And she’s incredibly grateful for it.
