Part of raising a well balanced dog includes training classes. We love taking our fur kids to obedience classes. It's a great time for the dogs to socialize, challenge their brains, and learn. But it's also a great opportunity for you to practice your pack leader skills. Getting a pack of 6 dogs to sit together and pay attention to you alone is not always easy, but it's possible when you show constant leadership with them. Whenever possible, we love bringing our guest pups to classes with us. They always enjoy themselves so much. Have you ever taken your dogs to obedience classes? Comment below and share your favorite stories.

I always say that when done correctly, a walk with your dog is such an amazing bonding opportunity. At Bark Knight Biscuits Dog Daycare and Boarding, we take our pack walks very seriously. One of my favorite things about the walk is allowing my pack (permanent aka my own fur kids and temporary aka guest pups) to take in different smells and scenery. But even more fun is running into different dogs along the walk. We usually see the same dogs almost everyday. Watching them int...eract with each other is such an amazing experience. Dogs have their own language and it's important to give them freedom to "talk" and "check in" with one another. When you have a well balanced pack, they should be able to walk past another dog, maybe sniff each other, and then be on their way. Today, my kids, Bruce Wayne and Phoebe Buffay, had two walking mates: Daisy and Bella. Bruce Wayne is definitely the Beta of the group (I'm the alpha). He leads the rest of the dogs and shows them proper puppy etiquette. How do I know they loved their walk? Tongues sticking out and wagging tails are a big giveaway. Not to mention, as I type this in my living room, there are four peacefully sleeping puppies around me. So whether it's running into Sulley, the playful 1-year-old Maltipoo ball of fur, Mia, the sweet Yorkie-poodle mix, Hootie, the watchful and energetic Schnauzer, or any other fellow neighborhood dog, our walks are always full of surprises. What's your favorite part of walking your pack? Comment below!! P.S. While we're at it, please pick up after your dogs. :)

After nap time is a great time for outdoor play. However, sometimes, more than play, they just want to sunbathe.

Resting time after long morning walk. A walk is one of the most intimate activities you can share with your dog. When done correctly, it can strengthen the bond between you and it can continue to establish your role as the pack leader.

A tired dog is a good dog. Took the pack for a one-and-a-half-hour morning walk. Half the walk was a leisure walk allowing them to sniff and take in all the things/smells around them. The rest of the walk was a "working" walk. Keeping them all on a short leash allows them to focus on the walk; this stimulates their brain. In the end, they were all physically and mentally tired. As soon as we came home, they each found a spot and rested.
