TL;DR: Check out my version of Seder Haavodah with Rabbi Gershon Albert Long version: There is a song that I have put on a pedestal in my mind ever since it cam...e out: Seder Haavodah by Yishai Ribo. I did not imagine that I would do a cover of the song any time soon, because I didn't think I could do it justice. But when presented with the opportunity to sing along with Rabbi Gershon Albert's incredible guitar playing and vocal harmony, I realized that we were capable of producing a version of the song that I felt would represent the beauty and kavanah of the song and the original text, even though our version would not be perfect. This video was recorded the day after Yom Kippur. There are times in your life when you realize you are in a special moment, and you need to do something to capture that magic. My time in Oakland this year for Yamim Noraim was one of those moments. The opportunity to create music with an incredible musician and Jewish leader for a community that appreciated our work so much is not something that happens often. Finding hidden blessings is important during tough times, and one of the benefits that resulted from this year's COVID-restricted Yamim Noraim is that a lot of the music Rabbi Albert and I created together is recorded. I look forward to sharing with you one more standalone recording from Rabbi Albert and me, and then soon afterward two playlists of the Zoom concerts we put on before Rosh Hashanah and Yom Kippur. Thanks for listening! To healthier times ahead!
