Tuesday the girls and boys team played Mammoth High School. The BUHS girls soccer team won 7-0 and the boys soccer team tied 1-1. Tonight the BUHS girls soccer team played Big Bear High School and won 2-0. Great start to the season for both the girls and boys soccer teams.

A big thank you to everyone that supported the BUHS Girls and Boys soccer teams on Saturday for the Nacho Day. We sold 127 nachos plus received several tips. A special thank you to Amigos Mexican Restaurant for hosting the soccer team fundraiser.

Nacho Day is this Saturday, November 16 from 11:30 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. Fifty (50) percent of all Nacho sales goes to both the Bishop Union High School boys and girls soccer teams. See the flyer for details.

The 2018-2019 season ends, with both the Boys & Girls varsity concluding their seasons in the CIF Central Section Division V quarter final round. The Lady Broncos lost 3-0 to Kerman High school, and the Boys Varsity lost 6-3 to Riverdale High school. Congratulations to both teams for finishing the season as High Desert League champions, and for representing our small town so well. Enjoy the off-season, and we'll see you in the fall!

Kennedy High forfeits their match today, so the 3pm boys match will not take place. Bishop Boys varsity advance to the 2nd round automatically. No word on the girls match, so until further notice, the girls match versus Kern Valley is still on at 5pm. Congratulations to boys varsity, and on to the next round!

Tonight the girls and boys were back in action playing the Kern Valley High School soccer teams. Girls won 3-1 and the boys won 7-1. With tonight's win, the Boys soccer team are the High Desert League Champions for the second year in a row. Next Tuesday the Bishop girls team can clinch first place as well with a win at Frazier Mountain. If they do win, it will be the second year in a row for the girls team as well. Go Broncos Soccer!

A little slow to report but so far this week the Bishop Union High School girls and boys soccer teams have played Rosamond at home and played Boron away. Monday night was Rosamond in which the girls tied 1-1 and the boys won 1-0. Tuesday night was Boron and the girls won 7-0 and the boys won 4-0. ... Next game for the teams will be tomorrow night at home against Kern Valley.

Bishop Soccer teams played Cal City tonight. The girls soccer team won 6-0 and the boys soccer team won 9-0. Next game is Rosamond on Monday, January 28. Girls play at 3:00 p.m. and Boys at 5:00 p.m.

Important News regarding CIF Central Section rules on cautions (yellow cards) and disqualifications (red cards). From the CIF Central Section Rules page: 3.3.3 1) If a player accrues five (5) yellow cards during the regular season, s/he is suspended for the next game.... 2) For the play-offs the count starts over. When a player accrues three (3) yellow cards during the play-off season, s/he is suspended for the next play-off game. 3) There are no changes to the current RED card system. (One scenario needs explanation. When a player has accrued 3 yellow cards during the regular season, and then receives 2 yellow cards in a game, that player sits out the next two games, one for the 2 yellow cards which equals a RED and 1 for the accrual of the 5 yellow cards.) 4) The definition of fightingCausing or attempting to cause harm to another player. The penalties have not changed. 5) During an altercation on the field during a game, if one or more players enters the field from the bench and contributes NEGATIVELY to the altercation, that team forfeits the game. 6) The termination of a game will result in a double forfeit. If a school participates in a second terminated game, that team will not be eligible for the play-offs that year. 7) For unsporting behavior, when a coach accrues three (3) yellow cards at anytime during the season, regular and play-offs, s/he is suspended for the next game.Yellow cards accrued during the regular season by coaches carry over into the play-offs.( One scenario needs explanation. When a coach has accrued 1 yellow cards during the season, and then receives 2 yellow cards in a game, that coach sits out the next two games, one for the 2 yellow cards which equals a RED and 1 for the accrual of the 3 yellow cards.)

Lady Broncos, what a season. It concluded last night in a raucous match that ended in a tie during regulation, tied through the overtime "golden goal" periods, and concluded in a loss by the most heartbreaking of tiebreakers - kicks from the penalty mark to determine the winner of the match. The Lady Broncos just played their hearts out, and end their season in a tough loss on penalties to Sierra Pacific High, who advance to the CIF Division V final against Orosi high on Friday, Feb 23, 2018. Per CIF regulations an admission will be charged and there is no pass list. All spectators please enter through the main gate on Home Street by the snack shack. Congratulations to the Lady Broncos, who pulled out a thrilling 1-0 victory over the visiting Lady Huskies from Mammoth, with a very late goal to snatch the win. The boys varsity also came back from a 1-0 deficit against the Mammoth Huskies, to equalize in the closing 10 minutes of play, on a goal from Diego Solorio, finishing 1-1 in this non-league match. Your Bishop Broncos hosted the Rosamond Roadrunners yesterday for a pair of blustery games. The weather cleared up in time for the 3pm start of the Varsity Girls, who fell 0-2 to the Roadrunners to open High Desert League play. Bishop goalkeeper Dulcinea Ostly-Vasquez turned in a solid performance with several clutch one-on-one saves to keep Bishop in the match the first half, but the Lady Broncos conceded two goals to finish 0-2, losing their opening HDL match. The boys varsity, however, turned the tide with a decisive 5-1 victory over the visiting Roadrunners to go 1-0 in HDL play. The Broncos will host Desert High school tomorrow (Thursday, Jan 11) at John Schwab field for their second High Desert League home match. The boys varsity finish their season, falling in the second round of playoffs 4-2 to number one seed Chavez high. Down 4-0 at half, the Broncos rallied to bring the score back to 4-2, but could not overcome the halftime deficit. The Lady Broncos fell 0-1 to Rosamond on a high shot from the left side which only just evaded goalkeeper Dulcinea Ostly-Vasquez's outstretched hand. Unable to capitalize on several opportunities, the Lady Broncos will face Frazier Mountain away at 3pm today, and Desert at home, at 3pm this Thursday the 9th. The boys varsity triumphed over the visiting Roadrunners 1-0, with a single goal from Diego Solorio, on a penalty kick awarded in the 27th minute. Neither team would score in the remainder of the match, as it finished with a single goal deciding the match. The Broncos will face Desert at home at 5pm Thursday, in their final home match at John Schwab field.

The Bishop Broncos recorded dual wins over visiting Cal City, with the Lady Broncos defeating Cal City 5-0, and the boys team lowering the boom on the Ravens 4-0. The Broncos did have one player sent off for Violent Conduct in the 74th minute of the match. Due to the impacted schedule from the weather cancellations the past couple of weeks, the Broncos play again today, hosting Kern Valley at John Schwab field tonight at 3pm and 5pm.
