VOLUNTEERS NEEDED

We spent the day with many evacuees, firefighters and volunteers and my heart is so full. However one thing I heard echoed from victims again and again was No thank you, some one else needs it more. STOP. Let us serve you, let us help you. We know you would be there for us were we to experience such a devastating loss. Butte County is being flooded with donations so much so that many centers are refusing donations, specifically of clothing. So those affected, help us help ...you! Sort (mindfully) through the donations helping organize by size, etc and take anything that might make your life a little bit easier. If you end up with extra items, pass it along to someone else. It also helps to make a very specific list of items you need to avoid becoming overwhelmed. Ask a friend to help you find those items and then return the favor to the next. Still want to contribute? Here are things we noticed a lack of or that would be especially useful: *new socks & underwear *pajamas in good condition *shoes in new or good condition *laundry detergent (small ziplocks of pods would be brilliant!) *collapsible luggage such as duffel bags and backpacks or folding laundry bins to carry all these items! *new washcloths, towels *SMALL children’s toys (coloring books crayons, play dough, travel toys, small teddy bears, puzzles. Children are being kept inside all day due to poor air quality!) *AIR PURIFIERS. These are expensive but so worthwhile! Consider teaming up with friends to gift one to a evacuated family you know staying nearby. Many families will be living day by day and large items can be a burden. If you have a large item such as stroller, suitcase, etc. you’d like to donate considering posting for free on a camp fire page and delivering to the victim. Thank you

Exciting news! Chef Andrea Boje has generously offered to come to the Barn this week and use our kitchen to prepare warm and nutritious meals for those affected by the camp fire. Our goal is to be able to serve 60-80 evacuees a hot meal twice a day beginning with a dinner service this Wednesday evening. We have already began collecting donations for food and we are now seeking a few volunteers to help us with our mission. Please message us with your availability if you can volunteer and share. Thank you!
