It started as a doodle. A momentary flash of inspiration plucked from a passing supercell of creative ether and flung up on my Crazy Wall - my fly paper for wha...tever drifted through my imagination that my generally addled memory wouldn’t remember later. Thankfully it appeared mostly assembled, the name, the logo, and the ethos. All that was left was to drag it into creation. I’m not a very diligent worker - it’s in fits and spurts; deadlines and sweatlines; obligations neglected and opportunities forgone, so imagine my surprise that 18 months after I brain-farted it into existence, not only does it persist, but Bigtop is alive and thriving. This is not only my effort. This is the combined effort and kindness of the people around me with their belief, married with mine, that has built and buttressed this fledgling studio into a viable entity, and this week was the first time we all got to see it on its feet and out in the world. So so so many thanks to Adam, to Karen, to Ron and every hard-working member of High Plains for bringing so much joy to so many people for us all to share and revel in. Thanks to Christopher Baker, my right-hand man and boots-on-the-ground in Denver all these years all the while running the best and longest-tenured show in Denver. Thanks to Chevy Chen and Christine Guenther, for seeing my deranged passion and bringing me in to the fold of international film production. Most of all, thanks to Kelsey VanderWerf - through and through the most beautiful, brilliant, boss-bitch-on-wheels-in-Jimmy-Choo-heels I’ll ever have in my life; thank you for somehow absorbing all of my crazy and making all of this (and me) work. I love you so much it’s tough to find words to capture your grandeur. I just. want-to-say: THANKS. We’ve got pilots! We’ve got travel shows! We’ve got web-series! We’ve got podcasts!
