(theuncovery.org) Even though Black and White people consume marijuana at the same rate, Blacks are 3.73 times more likely to be arrested for possession of marijuana. In over 96% of counties with more than 30,000 people in which at least 2% of the population is Black, Blacks are arrested at a higher rate than their white counterparts for possession. Arrests and convictions for possession of marijuana can heavily impact on decisions involving public housing, student financial aid, employment opportunities, child custody determinations, and even immigration statuses. Taxpayer dollars that law enforcement keeps funneling towards marijuana possession laws can be better allocated into public schools and public health programs; i.e. substance abuse therapy. When using cannabis as medicine for pets, the first thing to remember is that any significant side effects are unacceptable. Getting your dog or cat intoxicated is never OK, even with medical cannabis. The goal with cannabis therapy in pets is to relieve the symptom being treated with no other side effects. Their normal patterns of behavior should be unaltered after receiving the therapy. It is recommended to use CBD at least TWICE per day. CBD is most effective when it is consistently, and regularly, activated in the endocannibinoid system. Using only once a day, or only situationally, may not be as effective as a regiment.

Photo by - Connie McCoy "Just back from the front lines at Hot Springs Canyon where I watched the fire burn down close to the creek on the north-facing slope and was stalled when I left, not yet crossing over to the other side. Crews worked really hard and bravely setting back fires on steep terrain to protect Esalen's water tanks and so far successful. An evacuated neighbor asked a deputy how the fire had started and was told it was arson and the perpetrator is in custody."
