SUE WONG LEGACY GALA SPEECH I was asked by my dear and lovely friend Lisa Haisha to give a speech at her legendary annual fundraiser LEGACY GALA. I spoke about ...beauty, the archetype of the Goddess and what it takes to manifest one's dreams. Here is the speech that I delivered. I hope that its message inspires. xxxSW <3 <3 <3 SUE WONG LEGACY GALA SPEECH Esteemed guests, distinguished Ladies and Gentlemen, Members of the Legacy Team and your tireless work to put this beautiful event together, and my dear friend, Lisa Haisha whom I hold in the highest of regard for her brilliance, great leadership and her warm, compassionate heart--I thank every creative visionary here for your inspiration and creative contribution to the world. I share my humble beginnings with you to reiterate that the American Dream is very much alive and well, even in these challenging times globally. For those who remain undeterred and compelled to turn dreams into reality, remember to practice the three P’s that Gurdjeff taught: PERSISTENCE, PATIENCE and PERSEVERANCE. Life is indeed the ultimate teacher and as long as we survive her lessons in the form of hurdles and obstacles, we can learn to be good magicians and alchemists turning yesterday’s former adversities into tomorrow’s blessings and victories. My life trajectory is the magical journey of many such wondrous experiences, learned through many invaluable life lessons; some of the lessons painful, but all of it immeasurably growthful and imbued with deep meaning. My spiritual quest is to grow into the quantum potential of who I was destined to be. To fulfill the legacy of one's destiny involves tenacity, dedication, focus and much hard work. The act of quantum Transformation is exactly what I invest in each and every one of my designs. Each of my gowns offer a powerful Transformational experience. My entire ethos is about honoring the Goddess and her representational archetypes. Goddesses are our present-day subliminal archetypal inspirations and guides - our hope of what we could attain--a sense of immortality and perfection. My life has been an odyssey of personifying archetypal embodiment. This profound portal of healing has helped me define different aspects of the Eternal Feminine within myself, as well as within other women. Symbolism and character are embedded in a SUE WONG gown, imbuing the creation as a multi-dimensional, sculptural art piece in motion. As a designer, I weave these symbols to unveil a mythology of transformative, alchemic Beauty through the expression of my design work and art. I pay homage to my three patron Goddesses - Aphrodite: I am an advocate of Love and I create Beauty; Artemis: I’m a fierce warrior-goddess cutting my swathe through the world; Athena: I’m a seeker of truth and wisdom. If it weren’t for the Feminine Divine that resides in each and every woman, there would be no life, no perpetuation of the Human race. I design with specific intention to liberate, awaken the Feminine Divine Goddess in each and every woman. My message to all across the world is synonymous with my designs and design mantra of BEAUTY ~ MAGIC ~ TRANSFORMATION. As one of my favorite teachers of the Twentieth Century, Joseph Campbell taught: 'Follow your Bliss'. I have followed mine and therefore I am living my dream: My life has been my Art, and my Art has been my life. Thank you, Lisa Haisha for including me in this incredible honor. I dedicate this evening to those creative souls inspired and courageous enough to follow their soul's calling--to follow their true BLISS by willing to sacrifice tireless effort, hard work and true dedication in order to actualize and manifest their dreams. I also thank and honor my Mother, offering my immeasurable gratitude for teaching me the greatest gift on Earth the meaning of sacrifice, love and undying devotion I thank her for for being my most important Goddess and teacher of all...
