Dear Berryessa Community, Our community today mourns the loss of a special friend, colleague and teacher, Steve Kato. Since 2007, Steve taught 4th and 5th graders at Vinci Park Elementary. He did so with great passion, commitment and joy, and left a profound mark on our Berryessa community. He is fondly remembered by his colleagues for his larger than life personality, his kindness towards others, and his positivity. He was loved and cherished by his students.... Since the news of Steve’s passing yesterday evening, many of his students, colleagues and friends are already working on ways to honor his life and legacy. We will be sharing more details with you in the coming days and weeks about these efforts. WHEN: October 19th through December 7th Register before October 18th at https://www.eventbrite.com/e/santa-clara-county-library-onl After-School Distance Learning Tutoring Pods with social and emotional learning (SEL) are Common Core State Standards (CCSS) aligned in math and English Language Arts (ELA), utilize classroom curriculum, provide homework support, personalized social emotional growth mindset activities and digital literacy training. Academic Coach to Student Ratio is at maximum 1:8 and minimum 1:3. Peer to peer instruction and collaboration is encouraged to increase student engagement in pursuit of subject level mastery. All participants must have access to Zoom.

We are pleased to announce that on September 22, 2020, the Berryessa Union School District Board of Trustees approved a partnership with East Side Union High School District, the City of San Jose, and several neighboring school districts to provide greater access to the internet for students and residents within the boundaries of each of these San Jose school districts. By working together, all partners will share in the expenses to maintain a community wireless network for ...students and families in East San Jose within the Independence High School boundaries.
