We are sad to announce the passing of our co-worker, peer, and friend, Officer Michael Godinez. Our deepest sympathies go out to his friends and family during this difficult time. Please consider contributing to funeral expenses here:
Statement from Berkeley Police Association regarding the death of George Floyd The Association is shocked and demoralized by the videos we have seen of the death of George Floyd in the custody of Minneapolis police officers. The actions of the officers involved run counter to how we are trained and the standards to which we strive. Protecting life is our most sacred duty. We look forward to an honest and transparent criminal investigation of the incident. In all things we do..., we demand justice. We recognize that this incident will put increased strain on the relationship between law enforcement and the communities we serve. We won’t let the failures of others in our profession define all of us: we will serve our community in a way that earns its trust. We will continue to be the professional, ethical, and dedicated peace officers that you expect us to be and we expect of ourselves. We offer Mr. Floyd’s family and the Minneapolis community our deepest sympathies during their time of mourning.
Congratulations to the 2019 Berkeley Police Association Officer of the Year: Officer Greg Michalczyk! Thanks to everyone who came out last evening to celebrate his achievements.
Take a look at this photo & guess who retires today? (Hint: The smile.)

THANK YOU to everybody who donated to the Berkeley Police Association Turkey Basket Fundraiser! With your help, we were able to raise a total $5,440! Those donations will allow us to provide over 500 meals to families in need throughout Berkeley. The meals will be delivered on Wednesday, November 27th. Special shout out to Sgt. Scott Castle for all the work he has put into this event! Happy Thanksgiving everybody!
A big thank you to all those who participated in Berkeley PD's #pinkpatchproject fundraiser during Breast Cancer Awareness Month! Shout out to our officers here proudly sporting the pink patches on their uniforms.
https://www.gofundme.com/f/turkey-baskets-2019 Each year the Berkeley Police Association gives back to the community by bringing turkey dinners (with all the fixins’) to families in need. We are thankful and grateful for any help others can provide this season!
Some of our officers finishing up their overnight shift up in Sonoma County helping with the fires. It has been awesome to see first responders from all over come out to make whatever difference they can. Our hearts are with SoCo and all those affected by the fires.
