Hosted by the AB705 Workgroup and the Office of the President Tuesday, November 19th 12:15 1:15pm 5th Floor Student Lounge Students are invited to join faculty and staff in this open format discussion about the effects of the bill. BCC wants to know how the change has impacted you, and any other comments you may have regarding bill AB705. Watch Highway Hosted by the South Asian Student Union and the Muslim Student Association Tuesday, November 19th 4:30 7:30pm Auditorium All are welcome to come experience South Asian cinema. Highway follows the beautiful, adventurous, and liberating story of a young woman abducted by a common criminal the day before her wedding. Snacks and drinks provided starting at 4:30pm, and the movie will start promptly at 5pm. BCC Food Pantry Mondays from 12 3pm in the Atrium Wednesdays from 10am 1pm in the Wellness Center Ongoing food pantry open to all BCC students. Varying organic produce offered each week on Mondays from 12pm 3pm in the atrium. Nonperishable foods are offered in the Wellness Center every Wednesday from 10am 1pm. Students who feel the effects of food insecurity are strongly encouraged to partake, but all students are welcome. South Asian Culture Party Hosted by the South Asian Student Union and the Muslim Student Association November 27th, 2019 12:15 1:15pm Atrium Come check out the diversity of food, music, and activities found in different South Asian cultures. Guests will have the opportunity to get henna, try food from many countries, and experience the colorful attire worn by the different South Asian communities. You are encouraged to wear your culture’s attire, and all are welcome to enjoy the festivities. This is a discussion party covering all candidates up for the 2020 presidential elections. This is a non-partisan event discussing Democratic, Republican, and Independent candidates and their platforms. All are encouraged to stop by and learn about the candidates. Congratulations Berkeley City College! According to the latest National Student Learning, Voting, and Engagement (NSLVE) report on Student Voting Rates for Berkeley City College, BCC’s student voting rate grew 23.8% from 2014 (35% vs. 68.6%). Our rate is higher than the average at other community colleges (37.4%), 4-year institutions (38.9%, and private institutions (39.2%).
