There is some drift smoke in the area (especially down near Santa Cruz) from a controlled burn at Wilder Ranch

Post CZU Lightning Complex Fire, we are receiving many inquiries about alerts and preparedness for the possible Debris Flows/Mud Flows in and around the burned areas. Signing up for Reverse 9-1-1 calls is an important step to being prepared for these or any other emergency in your area. You can sign up here: https://www.scr911.org//sign-reverse-9-1-1-notifications-c For more information on Debris Flows/Mudlows, please visit https://www.co.santa-cruz.ca.us/Fi/DebrisFlowsMu...dflows.aspx Be Alert, Be prepared, Be Safe! #SLVStrong #BLFD

It is with great pleasure the Ben Lomond Fire Department Auxiliary has received a donation of two Portable Radios from the Zakat Foundation of America ( https://www.zakat.org/ ) valued over $1800.00 apiece. These radios will be deployed in our first response vehicles that have the capability of reaching the most remote areas of the fire department's response area. These first response vehicles can assess the scene and quickly determine any additional resources needed to add...ress the emergency. As we experienced many limitations communicating during the CZU Lightning Complex Fire, these radios will help us be better prepared for the upcoming winter that will bring a high potential for mudslides, debris flows and downed trees and power lines. With the help of these radios, our crews can quickly respond to calls, ascertain what resources are needed from the incident, and quickly mobilize any additional help. #BLFD, #Zakat, #ZakatFoundationofAmerica, #Sadaqah , #CZULIGHTNINIGCOMPLEXFIRE

A huge shout out to DNA's Comedy Lab & Experimental Theater. This past weekend they hosted a drive-in comedy event with proceeds being donated to the Ben Lomond Volunteer Fire Department for the purchase of much-needed equipment, post-CZU Lightning Complex Fire. Their donation will go a long way in supporting the fire department and the community. Please take the time to give them a shout-out and keep an eye out for more upcoming events.... http://www.dnascomedylab.com/ https://www.facebook.com/DNAsComedyLab

Ben Lomond Volunteer Firefighters receive foreign aid In a remarkable act of kindness, Deputy Counsel General to the North West, Matan Zamir of Israel, presented new Wildland Turnout Gear in coordination with the Silicon Valley Jewish Federation Director, Diane Fisher. Chief Stacie Brownlee gratefully accepted these much-needed donations on behalf of our Volunteer Firefighters.... We are very grateful for the generosity of our International Neighbors and wish their Firefighters that have come to California to fight fires, safe travels, and great success. On behalf of all Ben Lomond Firefighters, we thank you, deputy Counsel, General Matan Zamir, and Director Diane Fisher. Your generosity is truly beyond words. #BLFD #Israel #jewishfederation

Understanding when to call 9-1-1 for Smoke or Fire seen. During the aftermath of the CZU Lightning Complex Fire and during any normal fire season, it can become very disconcerting when smoke is seen or smelled in the area. Having a basic understanding of smoke and fire will help everyone better understand when to call 9-1-1. ... Always remember above all else: if you’re concerned but unsure if you should call 9-1-1, BLFD would rather that you call so we can confirm whether there is a threat or not.

Great to see these young firefighters honoring those who sacrificed all on 9/11. These firefighters walked the height of the Twin Towers in full PPE to honor their fallen brothers and sisters. #BCFD #BLFD #SLVSTRONG
