A bell symbolizes a multitude of things. In many religions, it is a call to gather, to celebrate and, to mourn. In some circles, it represents a shift in energy, to transition and to move on to the next step. Moreover, it has the ability to warn, announce and remind. Personally, this bell holds significance because it reminds me of a moment in time. Our family were in Mexico traveling and this was what we chose to remember our trip by. We do our very best to remember ...and to have something to help bring us back to a time of joy. I love this bell but I don’t often notice it. For some reason however, it caught my eye today and I felt an important need to look further at why it was important for me. For me, the bell symbolizes awakening, it is a call to notice, to become more aware of this very moment. I get very narrowly focused on the future, so much so the belief becomes I won’t be satisfied until this happens or when I overcome this, or my life will be perfect once I have this thing. In reality and to quote Jon Kabat-Zinn, what is the purpose of all this living if it’s only to get some place else? He goes on to say, it’s always for when I retire, when I get married, when I get divorced, when I make enough money, when the kids move out. Wait a minute. This is it. This is your life. We only have moments. This moment’s as good as any other. It’s perfect. Let’s awaken to this very moment. Let’s place intention to this moment and allow ourselves to notice what’s being experienced in this very moment. Let’s be intentional with holding this moment as if it’s our last. #moments #bell #fullerton #placentia #mindfulness #jonkabatzinn #gratitude #awareness #awakening #joy #peace #kindness #memories #travel #love See more

The state of being is where we are simply at rest, not doing, fixing, judging, criticizing, complaining, envying, comparing, achieving, working, reacting... just being here, arriving, resting and being. #rest #breathing #sabbath #mindfulness #being #selfcare #relaxation #surrender #release #sunday #mentalhealthweek #lettinggo #sky #blue #sailboat

Monk by the sea painted by Fredrich in 1808 reminds me that self awareness requires solitude, a journey inward. Change doesn’t occur without first looking inward and taking responsibility for what we bring to the table. We get to determine how we respond after we’ve accepted what we’re contributing. #responsibility #noticing #selfawareness #growth #introspection #meditation #humility #mindfulness #selfcompassion

Allow By Danna Faulds There is no controlling life.... Try corralling a lightning bolt, containing a tornado. Dam a stream and it will create a new channel. Resist, and the tide will sweep you off your feet. Allow, and grace will carry you to higher ground. The only safety lies in letting it all in the wild and the weak; fear, fantasies, failures and success. When loss rips off the doors of the heart, or sadness veils your vision with despair, practice becomes simply bearing the truth. In the choice to let go of your known way of being, the whole world is revealed to your new eyes.

The Guest House This being human is a guest house. Every morning a new arrival. A joy, a depression, a meanness,... some momentary awareness comes as an unexpected visitor. Welcome and entertain them all! Even if they are a crowd of sorrows, who violently sweep your house empty of its furniture, still, treat each guest honorably. He may be clearing you out for some new delight. The dark thought, the shame, the malice. meet them at the door laughing and invite them in. Be grateful for whatever comes. because each has been sent as a guide from beyond. Jellaludin Rumi, translation by Coleman Barks

All of us are creatures of a day; the rememberer and the remembered alike. All is ephemeralboth memory and the object of memory. The time is at hand when you will have forgotten everything; and the time is at hand when all will have forgotten you. Always reflect that soon you will be no one, and nowhere Excerpt From Creatures of a Day Irvin D. Yalom
