Peeking into one of our favorite treasure chests that nature has to offer. With only a sporadic stream of speedy insects zooming by as your map, and skilled guards, finding honey really is like a treasure hunt in the Hunter/Gatherer societies of the world. On top of that, they knew learned the hard way. If you took all the spoils of the hive, the renewable treasure chest would seize to exist. If they exercised consumption control (which they did) then they could come bac...k year after year for that sweet golden honey. Laying Worker - A name given to female honeybees that lay unfertilized eggs, in the absence of a queen bee, in order to desperately keep the species alive. However, these unfertilized eggs will only produce male Drones that serve simply for reproductive purposes. . . . It is a common misconception that the Queen bee is the only bee in the colony capable of laying eggs. The truth is, ALL females have the capacity to lay eggs, but only the Queen can store semen from mating f...lights and choose whether to lay unfertilized eggs (drones) or fertilized eggs (female worker bees). Female honeybees make up roughly 95% of the colonies population (SHOUTOUT LADIES!) and is why we emphasize the importance of the divine feminine throughout Mother Nature. . . . Rescue. Relocate. Revive. . . .... A very large piece of our operation that, honestly, creates more work than you’d think, is the nurturing of weak hives. Individually each colony has its own story. Each one has various reasons for what occurs in the confines of the hive making every day a mystery, Taking the time to learn the needs of the ladies by cross referencing the history of where the bees came from with where they are now, adding the complexity of addressing any other detail of the delicate balance, is onerous, but worth it in the long run. It is said, the more responsibility you take, the more meaningful life becomes. This colony is making a quick comeback after its rescue & relocation. Just a few quick weeks before the photo, these bees were in an attic of a San Diego home.
