Saying Goodbye to Adobe Flash December 31, 2020 is the slated end of life date for Adobe Flash. The announcement which was originally released in 2017 is now closely... approaching. Microsoft has reported to push out a windows update on December 31st to disable flash from its browsers and programs. The new Edge browser which is now based on chromium has flash already disabled by default. Along with Microsoft, other companies such as Google, and Mozilla have already taken steps to move away from flash. Only about 2.6% of websites still use flash, but that is still around 260,000 sites. Thankfully many of sites have either stopped using flash or have migrated to HTML5. This responsibility however falls more on the content provider side not the consumer. If you have a website of your own, review it and make sure you are fully migrated. If there is a website you use that you want us to check, let us know and we will check for you.

Windows 10 Update April 2020 The newest update rolling out for Windows 10 comes with fixes and problems. Before you update make sure that you have a recovery USB ready. The newest update has not been pushed as of yet, but if you click on "check updates" you might have seen the option. Right now the best bet is to wait it out, this new update has been more headaches than previous updates.... It is breaking many drivers, causing the infamous Blue Screen of Death making your computer unusable. With the only fix to roll back to a know good state, and without the tech knowledge this is easier said than done. All our clients have the updates managed by us, and we are not updating to this new version. We are only doing security patches, but those are within your current version. Cohesive clients do not need to worry, we will move to the new update once it is safe. Cohesive Family, we highly advise that you ignore the update notification for the time being. As companies on board more people to work remotely and people in your neighborhood add pressure to the internet we expect internet to be strained and possibly slow. Slow work is better than no work. There is unfortunately very little IT Helpdesk providers can do as there are many factors out of their control. Try not to flood them with help request about slowness. In the coming days the internet will have increased load with kids at home watching YouTube and playing games in conjunction with parents on internet for work , remember slow work is better than no work. If you notice it slow have your kids do alternative activities. Some homes don’t have high speed internet. People need it for work, Youtube, Minecraft and Fortnite can wait.

Urgent Email Spam PSA! There is a wave of emails with malicious attachments that has been spreading in the past few days. The email appears to be from a person in your address book. The email contains macros that runs code in the background that may install a Trojan virus and collects your address book. Then the adversaries send the same thing to you contacts using your name.... The emails don't use your address rather they use your name in the signature and as the "to" name. Please inform your staff and friends to be weary of attachments and to check the full email of who the sender is. Example: John Doe "[email protected]" where is should be "[email protected]" All Cohesive clients have been notified and we have bumped up our antivirus scans to be more aggressive to counter this threat. Those who are not monthly managed clients please make sure to have your antivirus definitions up to date and notify your staff. *Sensitive info has been blacked out on the example pictures*
