A special shout out to @ladidadada for adding her magical touch to some very special family photos! I’m very proud of my heritage & love my Cherokee lineage. My great-grandfather was not only the chief of his tribe, but also the first U.S. Native American Marshall in the United States. My grandfather was born in a teepee in Tahlequah, Okalahoma. As a little boy, he and his father road up bareback to a local jailhouse where Geronimo was being held captive... my grandf...ather used to sit in Geronimo’s lap inside the jail cell as he would tell my grandfather native tales. Prison was a little different back then! Geronimo’s walking cane was later gifted to my father. It is covered in an old newspaper, a rose print flour sack with a beautiful native glass bead design double threaded into the fabric. It had a single bullet shell at the bottom. My father allowed the cane to be on display in a museum for a time and it is in the care of my brother today. (More inside details on the cane is available upon request). My grandfather was not exactly sure of his age, but joined the military somewhere around the age of 17.
