I got an incredible reminder today. Signs are all around us, constantly. Today, walking the beach, I got entangled in fishing line. Literally, I stepped in it, and couldn’t walk because it wrapped around my ankle and was so deeply embedded we couldn’t pull it out. Here’s the teaching I received in the moment: You can search and work for enlightenment, but you will get bogged down if you don’t pay attention to the steps. ... Also- your thoughts entrap your energy more than any physical restraint. Choose to loosen the hold, even if it’s deeply embedded in a place you don’t understand. Be aware of the beauty around you. When you get stuck, look to those who love you to free you. All great lessons in a simple walk to rid myself of anger and resentment I no longer needed to carry. Long day. Long day trying to be a better version of myself. Not everyday is perfect. Many days I fail. I show up with heart, intelligence, compassion, and grit to work the best I can. I’m grateful, but some days it’s just fucking hard. As I began to breakdown and cry, I found this at my doorstep. Signs to remind us that while today was tough, we aren’t alone. There’s more at stake for showing up like we do. With heart. All of it.

It’s been a tough few years. Mort being unemployed for 13 months, my breast cancer diagnosis, losing Maura. . . But for all that’s been difficult, we have never felt alone. We have been surrounded by family, friends, a community that has been more than we could have asked for. ... If you are reading this, I count you as a blessing. So with all that’s been difficult, we couldn’t be more grateful for all the love, constantly. Be kind to one another. Hold space for the love. We are grateful for you!

19 years. It hasn’t been easy, but nothing worth keeping is ever easy. Thanks for dancing with me in my darkest hour, finding laughter through the biggest pain, challenging me to love in ways I never thought I could. It’s not perfect. We aren’t perfect. We are real.
