Follow up on Death Investigation from December 16, 2020. On December 16, 2020, the Beaumont Police Department investigated the death of a woman and child at an apartment in the 800 block of E. 6th Street. Cal Fire and the Beaumont Police Department were originally called to the apartment for a report of a subject suffering from a seizure, but upon arrival located two adults suffering from an overdose and a deceased juvenile. The adult female was later pronounced deceased afte...r being transported to a local hospital. The adult male was transported to the hospital in critical condition. Detectives from the Beaumont Police Department assumed the investigation and on Saturday, December 19, 2020, arrested 25 year old Tyler Finley upon his release from the hospital. Finley was booked at Smith Correctional Facility for felony cruelty to a child resulting in death with an added enhancement for the cruelty/death of a child. The female identified by the Riverside County Coroner’s Bureau, as Cheyenne Blackerby, age 24, had recently moved to the City of Beaumont with Finley. Blackerby’s cause of death has not yet been determined. The Beaumont Police Department had no prior contacts with the couple or the child. Reports of previous Child Protection Service involvement is still under investigation. Detectives are looking for additional information about this case and are asking for anyone familiar with the family and/or the incident to contact Detective Lynn of the Beaumont Police Department at 951-769-8500.

On December 16, 2020, at approximately 8:54pm, Beaumont Police Department was requested by Cal Fire to respond to an apartment in the 800 block of E. 6th Street. An adult male was transported to an area hospital and is listed in critical condition. An adult female also in the home was found unresponsive and was... given CPR. She was transported and later declared deceased shortly after arrival at the ER. A four-year-old female child was located deceased at the scene. Detectives from the Beaumont Police Department were notified of the circumstances and assumed the investigation. Upon initial investigation it appeared to detectives that the 4-year-old female child had numerous bruises throughout her body, appeared severely malnourished, and based on rate of decomposition had been deceased for approximately 1-2 days. This case is still under investigation. Identification of the decedents will not be provided until notification of next of kin. On Saturday, December 12th, the Beaumont and Banning Police Departments participated in our annual Shop with a Cop event. Due to COVID restrictions some modifications had to be made, but it didn’t take our spirit away! We were still able to provide breakfast and shopping for some very deserving children in the community. You can’t see their smiles under the masks, but we had some very happy kids and families. This event wouldn’t be possible without the help of some of our generous community members and businesses! So thank you to everyone who donated and gave time to this great cause. As well as a special thank you to Walmart Beaumont for hosting and allowing the officers and children to shop. Everyone had a great time!
