FYI to anyone interested in using their home for a vacation rental, but who has not done their paperwork yet. I was just at the Sonoma County permit office today and they said that the average processing time for new permits is 8 weeks. That said, they are taking their new proposals to the Board of Supervisors on the 26th for a vote, and if it is passed, the changes will go into effect 30 days later. This means that if you live in a community with very limited acreage as in R...io Nido, you might be denied a permit under these new rules, if accepted. But if you already have a permit, you will be grandfathered in. That is why it is crucial to get your application in as soon as possible.
