Ashley Harp BCSGA President 2019 interviews 2019 Renegade Alumni Ines Castillo on RAC Live! Born and raised in agricultural town of Bakersfield, Ines Castillo never thought it would nourish and cultivate her educational journey. As a first generation Mexican-American, life itself has been one interesting adventure. From a young age, she developed an interest in subjects like Art, Language, and Social Behavior. In her teen years, she frequently volunteered by conducting art cl...asses to help children develop positive coping mechanisms. Later during while attending Bakersfield College, she had the opportunity to set a strong foundation in the fields of Psychology, Sociology, Communication, and Liberal Arts by obtaining an AA degree for each field of study. While studying at BC, she worked in the Bakersfield College Archives, where three strong women encouraged sass and self-empowerment. Castillo currently attends the University of California, Irvine (UCI) while pursing a double bachelors in Psychology and Gender and Sexuality Studies. Presently, she is in the process of conducting her own research on Hispanic mothers and child bonding while working under the THRIVE lab at UCI. As for the future, she plans to attend graduate school for self-growth, fun, and bragging purposes, because if a small town Latina girl can do it, anyone can! The work of the Renegade Alumni Council is grounded in four key pillars: career development; student engagement and philanthropy; traditions; and young alumni engagement. These pillars inform our goals and initiatives on a yearly basis and serve as the foundation for our work. Join us! Alex Dominguez interviews Renegade alumni Mr. Clayton Fowler. Born and raised in Bakersfield, Mr. Fowler grew up attending local schools in the area. After graduating from Bakersfield College in 2016, where he served as the 91st Bakersfield College Student Government Association President, he transferred to and graduated from the University of California, Davis. In his spare time, he can be found spending time with friends and family, watching sports (especially baseball - Go Dodgers), staying active by hiking and camping, and traveling whenever possible. Mr. Fowler has been honored to have the opportunity to work in government at both the state and federal levels.
