How many of you noticed that congress just passed into law the SECURE Act? PLEASE PLEASE BE AWARE OF THIS LEGISLATIVE CHANGE!! The stock market in 2019 has had a wonderful run all year long. IRA's and 401k's have had significant returns, which is great for many retirees and those nearing retirement. Many of you plan on passing your unused retirement funds onto your children or even grandchildren. Unfortunately for Christmas, Congress passed the SECURE Act, which leaves a l...ump of coal in your retirement stocking when it comes to the beneficiaries of your IRA. No longer will a non-spouse beneficiary be able to stretch an Inherited IRA for their lifetime, potentially providing a legacy to your grandchildren and great grandchildren. Heirs will be required to take every penny out of the IRA within 10 years. This new legislation is estimated to generate $16 Billion dollars in additional tax revenue to the Treasury over the next 10 years. While there are some good benefits to the SECURE Act, this one could have negative consequences on your retirement plan.
