I work with facilities applying for permits and verify whether their equipment and operation comply with various regulations. I think it is essential to have a sustainable environment and enjoy being able to contribute to the efforts of improving air quality so it can be healthier for the public and for our future generations. -Becky Yu, Engineering Division

Working at the Air District in the Community Health Protection Program allows me the opportunity to work alongside community members to improve the air quality in their community. Although challenging at times for left-brainer like myself, being part of an innovative community-lead process to develop local emission reduction and air monitoring plans has been incredibly rewarding, and is changing the way I think about complex technical issues. I’m excited to see this program continue into the future, so that overburdened communities will have the resources and tools needed to better understand and improve their air. -Liz Yura, Community Engagement and Policy Division
Due to increasing frequency of wildfires impacting the Bay Area, the Air District donated high-efficiency portable air filtration units to the American Red Cross as part of our Wildfire Air Quality Response Program. Units and filters will be deployed as needed to Bay Area evacuation shelters and clean air centers when wildfires occur to help reduce smoke exposure.
