January 28, 2021 This is the first meeting of the new year, where we will welcome you all back to the club. It’s time to get bees, clean up your equipment, make new friends, and learn more about your hobby or business. We will be discussing acquiring the right type of bees, deciding where to put them, new classes, and all things NUC. Looking at my hive when opened shows a strong hive. This is what I always hope to see. Unfortunately I had a failing hive but was able to catch the queen with ...a few attendants. She was given to another beekeeper to hopefully start 2021 better. She will be introduced into a new hive once split from its parent hive. It usually takes the bees about 4 hours to realize that they don't have a queen as the queen pheromone will have faded away. At this point my queen can be introduced and hopefully will be accepted.
