Going on a run this weekend? Here are 5 Tony Tips to get you through! 1) Set a goal - whether that’s a distance or a specific interval workout. Worst idea is to run until you burnout because that will always happen earlier than you want - have to learn to break through the initial wall and a goal for the run will help you do that. I would also avoid time based goals (aka run for 30 minutes) because then it seems like a chore and a countdown and will feel like forever. 2)... warm up - jog for 5-10 minutes to get loose before starting any intervals. 3) Play with intervals! Timed intervals make running a lot more fun if you are used to Barry’s. Can be 45 second sprints with 90 second recoveries - or whatever sounds fun that day! The app Tabata Pro helps with the timing a lot. 4) Find a hill - in addition to speed intervals, do some hill or stair intervals to help build those muscles and strengthen your run form. Warm up on flat ground for 5-10 minute, then run up the hill, walk it down. 5) Follow Tony’s stories for more running tips and motivation! ;)
