Working closely with monks at a Byzantine monastery, BarroNica developed a series of floor tile patterns that are coordinated with the various functions of its chapel interior. BarroNica will continue to work with a team of monks during both the installation and tile-finishing phases of the project.

The oldest cathedral in the Americas is the La Merced Cathedral in Granada, Nicaragua. It was completed by the Spanish in 1529. While the structure has been ruined in earthquakes and rebuilt a number of times, the floor tiles remain the same. BarroNica handmade high temperature wood-fired terracotta floor tiles are made in the same location and by the same methods used as on this cathedral.

I just returned from Nicaragua where I had the privilege of working on the design and beginning of construction of a secondary school which is to be added to the the existing primary school at the CICRIN (Centro Infantil Cristiano Nicaragüense) Children's Home on the Island of Ometepe in Lake Nicaragua.
