Barber Family Farm 23.12.2020

Its giving Tuesday. Please chip in for this great cause. Our goal is to bless as many AV kids as possible. Even $5 will make a huge difference to help us reach our goal before this lot of toys becomes unavailable. That is less than one trip to starbucks to show our valley kids they matter. Especially since so many are shut in now, keeping them away from peers and friends. Please share as well.

It is with a sad heart and great emotional stress that Barber Family Farm will be closing it open door policy. Effective immediately access to the farm is on a...n appointment basis. We will still have all the same services and activities however you will have to book a time. On one hand it sucks but on the other you get private time with the animals. Everyone who knows me knows what my animals mean to me and if there is situations or people that may stress them out or want to cause drama that may effect them then I will cease all activities shut down access to them. My animals love the public and sharing time with you but the action of a few will effect the many in this case. Please pm me or call to schedule a time. All pumpkin activities are still here for October so please schedule a time. We will book 50 minute sessions on the hour from noon to 8pm every day but monday. Hope to see you all out here soon. Remember we do birthday parties on site as well. See more

Calling all our animal warriors. We don't ask often but this is one of those times we need you. We are surviving the COVID crisis but others are not so lucky. Some are having a hard time including a friend of our farm who was trying to establish a therapy farm down in the Inland Empire. Not only did he have zero gigs booked due to COVID but also had a bad stroke and had to resort to a caretake for his animals. We did a wellness check last week and found that his caretaker wa...s neglecting the animals and scamming our friend. We took three trips down to Montebello where he had the animals and brought them all to our farm. We immediately had a groomer and a farrier out to address the worst of them and will gradually do the others We dewormed and almost all had eye infections. Luckily outside of some really long hooves, they will all be fully mended soon. Here is the list...I know I should learn to say no but then I wouldn't be who I am and you all love and respect. 2 mini pigs 4 alpacas 6 goats 3 sheep 2 donkeys 1 mini bull 11 ponies uggggg.....lol This is at the same time we adopted two drop calves, 2 goats, and an alpaca lol. Luckily we have an amazing staff and awesome community so we know they will all have great lives and be well-loved and cared for. We are asking for donations, shares, and just plain old volunteering. At a minimum, though please share so we can get the word out that we need a little helping hand. Feed alone for just these guys and gals is $1800.00 a month, that's on top of our regular resident's feed bill. (lets not even discuss that one ugggg) what did I get myself into? But on a real note, it what gets me up every day and keeps a smile on my face. I thank you from the bottom of my heart. Herbert https://barberfamilyfarm.org/online-auction-2/

Pumpkins Galore Today is the day. Barber Family Farm will be opening its pumpkin market. This is an addition to our petting zoo and pony rides. A little pumpkin info before we get started though. Our pumpkins are not the type you find at grocery, hardware or super stores. Those are mass farmed, insecticided and usually chopped at the hilt on the stem to speed up rotting so additional pumpkins need to be purchased by the stores. Ours are organic, locally sourced, small family...Continue reading
