At CBB, we understand the importance of breaking down barriers. We're glad that we were able to make a difference for our client, Charles Hill. Taking the time to listen is the cornerstone of our client banking relationships. After several banks systematically denied Charles, he came to CBB, where his banker took the time to learn more about his business. Since 2016, CBB and Hill have partnered on four loans together.

As a community bank, we're in the business of helping our communitypeople like youimagine new futures. Right now, many small businesses are working hard to survive, and we’re working right alongside them. During Hispanic Heritage Month, we’re honoring the resilience and determination of our Latinx business clients to survive the hardships of Covid-19. East Oakland catering company Cocina del Corazon is just one client trying to beat the odds. Without their regular revenue ...from large events, partners Jazmin Villalta and Chef Enrique Soriano are imagining a new future for themselves, one in which they serve their neighborhood and community. Shortly after Covid-19 forced local food businesses to shut down, Jazmin began applying for grants. The company quickly received a grant from the City of Oakland. Jazmin also connected with local nonprofit @MandelaPartners which helped Cocina del Corazon become a vendor of the anti-hunger organization @WorldCentralKitchen. Now, Cocina del Corazon serves 100-200 meals to distressed East Bay communities four days a week. It’s been enough to keep afloat, Jazmin said. We feel so blessed to be able to keep doing what we love: feed people and create delicious food. And not only that, but to do it in our own community. Jazmin says she is hopeful about the future. The business is focused on building an organic food distribution business in low-income communities where fresh fruits and vegetables are scarce. A sustainable, community-focused vision of the future is why Cocina del Corazon chose to bank with CBB, Jazmin says. We did our due diligence. We wanted a bank with like-minded ideals. The fact that CBB invests in sustainability, was a huge reason we chose to bank with them. We applaud Cocina del Corazon’s vision of a sustainable futuretogether, we can help our communities recover and our local economy rebound.

It hasn't been easy for brick and mortar businessesespecially restaurants. While many have pivoted to out-of-restaurant experiences (take out only, delivery, etc.), some are safely coming back and adding in new options. Our client, Gather Kitchen Bar & Market, is open for business again with a new concept designed to meet the challenges of these difficult times. A decade ago, CBB provided start-up financing, and the restaurant developed a national reputation for locally-sour...ced, sustainable, and delicious food. 10 years later, we're still working together in partnership to support this Bay Area foodie favorite. You can enjoy their exquisite locally-sourced cuisine on their outdoor patio, by takeout, or delivery. Debuting this week is Gather's new market, with the best fresh produce and meats from local farmers to use in home-cooked meals.
